ANNUAL DYNAMICS OF MERCURY CONCENTRATIONS IN THE WATERS OF THE NORTHERN DVINA RIVER

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Asya Ovsepyan)

The article presents the materials of research conducted in the North of European Russia since 2004. We have studied soil, water and bottom sediments of rivers and lakes, biomaterials of the river inhabitants, and ground vegetation. For more than a 10-year period were accumulated actual data on concentrations of mercury in various components of the ecosystem of the mouth area of the Northern Dvina River, especially the interesting situation with the environment around pulp and paper mills (PPM). The main factor de...

DEFINITION OF INFLUENCING FACTORS, CRITERIA AND INDICATORS IN MODELING THE BEHAVIOR OF MERCURY IN WATER BODIES (FOR EXAMPLE THE MOUTH AREA OF THE NORTHERN DVINA RIVER)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Asya Ovsepyan, Alina Zimovets)

Based on data from long-term observations, dedicated to the study of mercury behavior in water bodies at the estuarine area of the Northern Dvina River, factors, criteria and indicators were identified. The choice of the "reference object" of the Northern Dvina River, due to the fact that based on the literature, and field studies here identified a relatively stable level of mercury in different components of the natural environment, and there are sources of anthropogenic mercury in the ecosystem in the absence of...

FEATURES OF THE ORGANIC CARBON DISTRIBUTION AND ITS RELATIONSHIP WITH CONTENTS OF HEAVY METALS IN BOTTOM SEDIMENTS OF THE NORTHERN DVINA RIVER MOUTH AREA

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Alina Zimovets, Asya Ovsepyan, Yuri Fedorov, Vyacheslav Savitskiy)

The rivers of the Northern part of European territory of Russia (ETR) contain large amounts of organic matter. This is due to natural features of the area (short cool summer, high wetlands, large areas of forests and features of soil formation), and to specificity of the anthropogenic impact. One of the largest rivers of the Northern ETR is the Northern Dvina River, flowing into the Dvina Bay of the White Sea. A general study of the organic carbon content in the bottom sediment of the Northern Dvina River mouth ar...

ON THE DYNAMICS OF MERCURY IN THE MOUTH AREA WATERS OF THE NORTHERN DVINA RIVER FOR A 10-YEAR OBSERVATION PERIOD

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Asya Ovsepyan, Senior Lect. Alina Zimovets, Yuri Fedorov)

The article presents the materials of long-term research conducted from 2004, in the mouth area of the Northern Dvina River. The program of researches included determination of concentrations of mercury in the water, covering about 150 km of the river length. We also analyzed such parameters of water as pH, Eh, oxygen content, salinity. A long observation period allowed us to trace the peculiarities of the changes of mercury content in water, which was the aim of the present work. Previously the authors determined...

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL AND HYDROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AS A FACTOR INFLUENCING THE DISTRIBUTION AND BEHAVIOR OF MERCURY IN THE SMALL RIVERS OF THE SUBARCTIC AREA OF THE EUROPEAN TERRITORY OF RUSSIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Y.A. Fedorov, V.A. Savitsky, Alina Zimovets, Asya Ovsepyan)

The increased vulnerability of the aquatic landscapes of Subarctic of the European part of Russia to anthropogenic impact is a consequence of natural conditions and its geographical location. In this regard, the study of small rivers and their catchments which are remote from the direct influence of the industrial and residential zones is of particular interest to researchers, since they can be considered as background areas of the Subarctic. One of these rivers is Kyanda flowing into the Onega Bay of the White Se...
