ARSENATE AND ANTIMONATE ADSORPTION ON NATURAL MATERIALS

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-12-27, Barbora Doušová, Eva Bedrnová, Katerina Maxovaf, Miloslav Lhotka)

Arsenic (As) and antimony (Sb) are highly toxic, carcinogenic elements from the same group of periodic system. They occur naturally as oxyanions, predicting their affinity to anionactive adsorbents in aqueous environment. The differences in adsorption properties of arsenate (AsO43-) and antimonate (Sb(OH)6-) were tested on natural adsorbents (zeolite, biochar, birnessite, hydrated ferric oxides - HFO) in their original and iron (Fe) or manganese (Mn) - modified forms, using the model solutions of AsO43- and SbO43-...

USE OF LOW-GRADE AND RECYCLED MATEWRIALS AS SELECTIVE ARSENATE AND ANTIMONATE SORBENTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Barbora Doušová, Miloslav Lhotka, Eva Bedrnová)

Arsenic (As) and antimony (Sb) are elements with similar chemistry and geochemistry, but their environmental risk differ depending on the origin and degree of the pollution. As and Sb are both very toxic, particularly their inorganic substances in the oxidation states of III and V, which also represent the most common As/Sb forms in the environment. In environmental systems, As mostly occurs as the tetrahedrally coordinated, pentavalent arsenate AsO43- (in oxidising environment), and the trivalent arsenite AsO33- ...

APPLICATION OF TECHNICAL STONE WASTE IN PHOSPHATE, ARSENATE AND CHROMATE REMOVAL FROM CONTAMINATED WATER

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Barbora Doušová, Miloslav Lhotka, Pavel Reiterman, Eva Bedrnová, Libor Mastný)

Powdered waste sludge from the production of technical stone (TSW), produced by theTechniStone® Company (Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic), was surface modified withFe2+ and Mn2+ inorganic salts and then testified as a potential adsorbent ofenvironmentally important oxyanions (phosphate PO43-, arsenate AsO43- and chromateCrO42-) from contaminated waters. The surface modification in principle consisted increating a thin layer of hydrated Fe/Mn ions in reactive form on the TSW surface. Thanks to the change of the surfa...

RECYCLING OF POWDERED BUILDING WASTES IN ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-12-05, Barbora Doušová)

Concrete slurry waste (CSW) from the production of prestressed poles production in original and Fe-modified form (CSWFe) was studied as potential adsorbent of environmentally risk cations (Cd2+, Pb2+) and oxyanions (AsO43- and CrO42-) from contaminated waters. Structural, surface and chemical properties of adsorbents were characterized by Powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Specific surface area (SBET) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Adsorption experiments ran in a batch manner at lab...
