Being inherited from 20th century and having increasingly negative effect on our lives, environmental problem had became inevitable part of our life. However employmentand development-related issues had led several governments to defer the subject. PREDICTION OF GROUND VIBRATIONS INDUCED BY BLASTING AT CEBECI QUARRIES IN ISTANBUL-TURKEY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, E. Kaya, G. Tuncer, S. Bicer)

During the production and service to the humanity of mine resources that are needed both by industry and construction of new grand buildings and plants that are the basic news of the modern world parallel to the urbanization and the increase in population, it is known that, like it has been in the past and will be in the future, works of excavation by blastings are inevitable. In order to designate the effects of the blastings on surrounding area, measurements of concussion and air shocks are very important. This ...

STABILIZATION OF POROUS SILICON LUMINESCENCE WITH SURFACE MODIFICATIONS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, E. Kayahan, O. Gundogdu, E. Simooglu, M. H. Aslan, A. Y. Oral)

In this study, enhancement and stabilization of photoluminescence (PL) by porous silicon (PS) were investigated. The PS samples were metallized in solutions containing 3 mM NaNO3 metal salt using immersing plating method. The surface bond configuration of PS was monitored by Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and it was found that the PS surface was oxidized after the metallization. The PL intensity increased after certain critical immersion times and PL spectrum shifted towards the high energy regi...

THE LUNG CANSER AND MESOTHELIOMA IN TOWNS WITH ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURE TO ERIONITE IN THE CAPPADOCIAN REGION, TURKEY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, A. Cubukcu, E. Kaya, M. Albayrak, O. Ozyaral)

Our previous study demonstrated the presence of environmental erionite fiber exposure in The Tuzk\"oy town in NevЕџehir located in the Cappadocian Region, Turkey. The aim of this study was to investigate whether environmental erionite exposure increases the incidence of lung cancer and mesothelioma. Method: One hundred and ninty-two deaths from mesothelioma and lung cancer living in the center or in the towns of NevЕџehir were retrospectively (between 1999 and 2003) analyzed. The mortality of lung cancer and mesot...
