PREDICTION OF GROUND VIBRATIONS INDUCED BY BLASTING AT CEBECI QUARRIES IN ISTANBUL-TURKEY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, E. Kaya, G. Tuncer, S. Bicer)

During the production and service to the humanity of mine resources that are needed both by industry and construction of new grand buildings and plants that are the basic news of the modern world parallel to the urbanization and the increase in population, it is known that, like it has been in the past and will be in the future, works of excavation by blastings are inevitable. In order to designate the effects of the blastings on surrounding area, measurements of concussion and air shocks are very important. This ...

HISTORY OF NATURAL STONES AND INDUSTRY OF TURKEY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, G. Tuncer, IL. E. Kerey)

Anatolia was one of the centers of marble production and trade especially in antique ages.Quarries that provided the marble used in the majestic structures in huge proportions of the antique era were located mostly in Western Anatolia .Marmara Island is in the Northwest Anatolia,Marmara Sea took its name from “Marmaro”,meaning marble in Greek ;it contains the most important white marble quarries and was the most important export center especially during Roman period.Quarries where the bluish Marmara Marble was...

STRATIGRAPHIC FEATURES AND GEOTECTONIC EVOLUTION OF THE SOUTH EDGE (NARMAN-OLTU-OLUR) OF EASTERN PONTIDS (NORTHEAST TURKEY)

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, C. Bozkus, I. E. Kerey, G. Tuncer)

The southern edge of Eastern Pontids is covered by rock units belonging to two distinct continental crusts that reunited through a Late Upper Cretaceous-Eocene suture zone. In the north of the Suture zone (Olur), Paleozoic aged acid magmatits (Permo- Carboniferous) constitute the continental crust basement. On this basement, there is uninterrupted marine sediment which has disconformably developed between Upper- Lias Late Cretaceous. These sediments have deposited under the conditions of Lias- Lower Malm basic vol...

BENCH BLASTING OPTIMIZATION METHOD DEPENDING ON DESIRED FRAGMENTATION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, K. Ozdemir, A. Kahriman, U. Ozer, G. Tuncer)

Within the scope of this study, Kuz-Ram and JKMRC fragmentation estimation models were applied to bench blasting operations and pros and cons of models were determined by comparing estimation results with the real fragmentation results obtained from digital image processing technique. On the other side, bench blast optimization method by means of models and digital image processing technique, is introduced in order to get desired fragmentation result from bench blast.

DETERMINATION OF MINERAL PROCESSING INDUCED ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2005, I. Kursun, G. Tuncer, K. Cinku)

People have always used metals and minerals and products made from or with minerals in a nearly infinite number of ways. With the increase in population and real per capita income, the demand for mineral commodities is likely to rise in the future.Mineral Processing in the mining industry can be defined as the economic recovery of a valuable commodity from a mineral deposit. Mineral processing operations produce significant amounts of solid and liquid wastes. As the quality of mineral deposits diminishes, raw mate...

INVESTIGATION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS OF GROUND VIBRATION INDUCED BY BLASTING IN VARIOUS QUARRIES LOCATED AT NORTHERN CYPRUS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2005, U. Ozer, A. Kahriman, A. Karadogan, G. Tuncer, M. Aksoy, K. Ozdemir)

This paper presents investigation of the environmental effects of ground vibration and air blast induced by blasting in various quarries located at Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Within the scope of this study, scaled distance components have been recorded for two shots at the BeЕџparmak Company, two shots at the G\"urdaДџ Company, one shot at the Levent Mosaic Company and one shot at the ArpalД±klД± Company, totally 6 shots at different times. And also, ground vibrations and air blasts produced by these sho...

THE EVALUATION OF OPEN PIT LAND RECLAMATION IN TURKEY CONSIDERING THE CURRENT LEGISLATION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2004, E. Ulger, T. Dogan, A. Kahriman, G. Tuncer, A. Karadogan, M. Aksoy)

Every action of human being causes changes in environment. Industrial activities realizing large volume of production affect the environment more. Scientific researches not only produce novelty but also try to find solutions in order to reduce the negative effects of these industrial activities. The countries that are good at utilizing their mineral sources have completed their social development in a short time and taken a place among the developed countries. The mining operations have been causing some changes o...

THE DAMAGE RISK EVALUATION OF GROUND VIBRATION INDUCED BY BLASTING IN NAIPLI QUARRY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2003, G. Tuncer, A. Kahriman, K. Ozdemir, S. Guven, A. Ferhatoglu, T. Gezbul)

The environmental problems arisen from ground vibration and air blast have been faced and discussed frequently in various industries such as mining, construction, quarry etc. where blasting operations are unavoidable. So the ground vibration effects induced by blasting on structures and human beings need to be predicted, monitored, and controlled. With the increase of the environmental constraints on the levels of disturbance induced by blasting operations nearby residents, there is also an increasing necessity to...

EVALUATION OF DAMAGE RISK OF THE GROUND VIBRATION INDUCED BY BLASTING IN A QUARRY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2002, A. Kahriman, A. Karadogan, G. Tuncer, S. Gorgun, S. Guven, A. Ferhatoglu, T. Gezbul)

With the general trend toward larger blasts in mining, ground vibration and air blast problems and complaints have significantly increased. With increasing environmental constraints on the levels of disturbance induced by blasting operations upon nearby residents, there is an increasing need to be able to design cautious blasting with greater precision. Therefore, determination of maximum amount of explosive per delay for a certain distance especially in large blasts is of great importance for the elimination of t...
