In the research, The Resilience Scale for Adults (RSA-scale) proposed by Hjemdal, Friborg, Martinussen, and Rosenvinge was used to assess students’ social intelligence. RSA-scale is consisted of 45 items including five dimensions: (1) personal competence, (2) social competence, (3) family coherence, (4) social support, and (5) personal structure. The internal consistency (Chronbach’s alpha) of all the dimensions is satisfactory high. The inventory was completed by the students twice, separated by a two-month i...

THE INVESTIGATION OF THE CONVERT TO BIOGAS AND SUBSTANCE SOLUBLE IN WATER OF MUNICIPAL ORGANIC SOLID WASTE COMPONENTS (MARKET WASTES)

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, E. Pehlivan)

Biogas is a part of the natural circle. Biogas is formed by the activity of anaerobic bacteria. In nature biogas is produced for example in bogs. It is also possible to produce from biological material in an environment free from air. The gas that is produced is methane (CH4), which is an excellent fuel for heat, electricity, and cars that doesn’t drain the earth’s fossil resources. The raw-material in biogas production has traditionally been waste from the food industries, and communal sewage treatment works....

In previous papers, we emphasised the important antimicrobial properties of some pyrazine and quinoxaline derivatives. In order to extend the research in the 1,4-diazine series, in this study we investigate the synthesis and amtimicrobial properties of some pyrazine and 6-methyl-quinoaline new derivatives. To this stage, we synthesised various cycloimmonium salts with acetophenone skeleton. On further treatment of diazinium salts in alkaline medium, we obtained ylidic intermediates. The existence in situ of ylids ...

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, C. Ozdemir, N. Sen, S. Dursun, H. Tezcan)

Low concentration of chlorinates maybe found in wastewater, contaminated soils and air due to different industrial sources. Low level of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)’s could be removed by adsorption, incineration and biofiltration methods. These methods have some disadvantages such as removal efficiency or high operation cost. Chlorine has been removed from the chlorinated aliphatic compounds under anaerobic conditions. The aim of this study was to investigate biological treatment of DCM and CT in high flow ...

The optimum pit limit design can be defined as determining the ultimate or final mining limits of ore deposit with maximum value or profit which is obtained from its extraction. Heuristic optimization techniques have been one set of the most widely used methods for ultimate pit limit analysis because of their rapid execution speed and easy conceptualization. This paper considers a heuristic technique, known as 3D moving cone to find the optimum pit limit of Sangan iron ore deposit in Iran. To evaluate the results ...

Almost any places in the world, people are using groundwater for drinking and usage needs because of reduced surface and spring waters sources in last decate. Settlement areas, agricultural areas, solid waste areas, industrial areas, waste water discharge areas have always potential to pollute the aquifer media. Boreholes areas for abstracting the ground water has to be picked up not to be carrying risk getting pollution on surface. So it’s necessary for the engineers that hydrogeologic properties has to be choo...

USING COMBINED GPS AND LASER TEHNIQUES FOR HEIGHT DETERMINATION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, R. Paar, A. Marendic, K. Babic, J. Vladanovic)

GPS RTK method has never achieved millimetre vertical accuracy. For the most common geodetic tasks such as surveying, staking out and monitoring, GPS RTK method in many cases has been limited by its measuring accuracy. Before the appearance of the new Topcon Lazer ZoneTM technology, we were able to achieve centimetre vertical accuracy (from 1 to 3 centimetre) using GPS RTK systems. Combining Topcon Lazer ZoneTM technology and Topcon GPS RTK HiPer Pro system accuracy of height determination can be increased to a mi...

Industrial processes do not get full efficiency and this means that a considerable amount of wastes without economical aim and which will finish in rubbish dumps, hence promoting a large environmental impact. Modern society steer itself, towards getting a sustainable development which minimize the production of these wastes, which are also increasing its economical, environmental and social costs. This fact compels to search solutions which could avoid the generation of this kind of wastes and to get value from th...

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, R. Kralikova, M. Badida, M. Krupa)

Renewable energy source is a source which energetic potential permanently renews with natureВґs processes or with the activity of man. Renewable-based energy sources have as yet played a negligible role in SlovakiaВґs energy balance. However there is the global trend toward more intensive use of these clean energies, therefore their higher utilisation is enshrined among the strategic goals of energy policies of most of the countries worldwide, including Slovakia. Necessity of energy and exploitation of the energet...

VERTICAL ACCURACY OF THE BREAKTHROUGH OF THE TUNNEL

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, Z. Kapovic, G. Novakovic, A. Marendic, R. Paar)

Tunnels are the objects of road infrastructure which construction requires very complex, demanding, and responsible geodetic tasks. In the tunnelling, at first it is necessary to establish high quality geodetic control that serves as the base for the transfer of the planned tunnel axis in horizontal and vertical directions, as well as the base for all geodetic measurements realised before, during and after tunnel construction. The basic quantity for the planning the completely measuring concept in the tunnelling i...

This paper describes utilization of environmental data to support decision-making in environmental management and protection. This requires a thorough knowledge of related developments in computer science and a good understanding of the environmental management tasks at hand. WASTE MANAGEMENT IN THE NORWEGIAN EXTRACTIVE INDUSTRY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, A. JS Kvassnes, I. Forfang, J. Skei)

Norway is a mineral rich country, and many of the mineral resources are close to the very long coast-line with ice-free fjords. EU’s Mineral Wastes Directive (2006/21/EC) implementation date is May 1st, 2008. Strict control is applied to the handle of the waste from the industries, in addition to financial guarantees in case of accidents and long term monitoring. Norway’s deep fjords and resources in the vicinity of, or on the coast, or in narrow valleys near water bodies, therefore have special waste manageme...

Antimony mineralization has been intensively exploited at numerous deposits in Slovakia from 17th century until a while since. Weathering and dissolution processes in the environment of mine tailings and closed mines, mobilize elevated levels of toxic elements such as arsenic and antimony, which represent dangerous contaminants for the surrounding ecosystem. The problem of contaminated groundwater should be solved and one of the possible remediation method is the Permeable reactive barrier system (PRB). The choice...
