PROVIDING STABILITY OF ENGINEERING STRUCTURES IN CITIES WITHIN COVERED KARST AREAS

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Olga Eremina, Irina Kozliakova)

The paper deals with the problem of avoiding karst and suffosion development upon projecting engineering structures in the areas of covered karst. It is shown that in case the depth of subsurface part of buildings with deep-seated foundations may be varied depending on the geological structure, the choice of foundation depth should be aimed at preventing possible karst and suffusion development. This approach is exemplified by the case of Bol?shoi Theater building reconstruction in the center of Moscow. A well-gro...

SOIL STABILITY ASSESSMENT UPON PROJECTING A NEW METRO LINE IN MOSCOW

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Irina Kozliakova)

Kozhukhovskaya metro line is under construction in the southeast of Moscow now. The geological cross-section at the construction site shows Carboniferous limestone at a depth of 30-65 m, overlain by Jurassic and Quaternary clay, loam, sand and sandy loam. The principle geohazards originate from the presence of the thick horizon of water-saturated sandy and sandy-loamy deposits. These deposits serve as an enclosing medium for the future metro tunnel. The deposits along the route were typified according to their res...
