The paper deals with the problem of avoiding karst and suffosion development upon projecting engineering structures in the areas of covered karst. It is shown that in case the depth of subsurface part of buildings with deep-seated foundations may be varied depending on the geological structure, the choice of foundation depth should be aimed at preventing possible karst and suffusion development.
