ASSESSMENT OF THE HISTORICAL AND RECENT SEISMICITY OF THE BLACK SEA REGION

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Liliya Dimitrova, Emil Oynakov, Lyubka Pashova, Dragomir Dragomirov)

The study of seismicity in the Black Sea region is of particular interest for assessing the vulnerability of the surrounding coastal zones to strong earthquakes and their consequences. The seismicity pattern in the area is determined by the geodynamic processes along the boundaries of the Eurasian, Anatolian and Arabian tectonic plates. The paper presents an approach to assessing the seismic activity of the Black Sea and the surrounding region covering historical and recent seismicity. The historical events since ...

EARTHQUAKE EFFECTS RECORDED ON MAGNETOGRAM - WHERE, WHEN AND WHY

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Petya Trifonova, Liliya Dimitrova, Metodi V. Metodiev, Maria Chamati, Plamena Raykova)

Records of the magnetometers responding to the effects of big earthquakes were noticed more than a hundred years ago. Even then began to dispute what caused these effects: mechanical vibrations of instruments or electric or magnetic oscillations generated by the earthquakes. In Panagjurishte (PAG) observatory we have great opportunity to shed light on this issue because we have four important instruments installed on the site - three different types of magnetometers and one seismometer. Three large earthquakes wit...

SEISMIC NOISE AT BULGARIAN ANTARCTIC SEISMIC STATION AND INFLUENCE FROM SITE SELECTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Liliya Dimitrova)

The investigation of the ambient seismic noise recorded by the Bulgarian Antarctic seismic station LIVV over four polar summers from 2015 to 2020 is presented in the paper. The method for evaluating the Power Spectral Density and Probability Density Functions is applied to study the distribution of the seismic noise in a period interval from 0.02 s to 30 s. The method is widely applied in seismological practice of the Seismological Society for carrying out both fundamental and practical scientific projects. For a ...
