In this study, It is estimated the effect of short-term exposure to air pollution on hospital admission for respiratory illnesses among young children. The study used existing data from records of three hospitals. Air quality and meteorological da ta were used to estimate daily exposure for children. Some compounds especially sulphur dioxide (SO2) is considered as typical indicators of the urban air quality. To inform decisions re garding, for instance, the protection of public health from elevated SO 2 levels in Balikesir, high-resolution maps are necessary.
