ASSESSMENT OF EGG WEIGHT, COMPONENTS, AND METAL CONTENT IN DIFFERENT HEN HOUSING SYSTEMS

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Eliza Simiz, Patricia-Cristina Tarkanyi, Adrian Dan Rășinar, F. Simiz, M Dragomirescu)

The egg is an animal-derived food with remarkable nutritional value, providing a balanced intake of essential nutrients and high digestibility, making it suitable for all age groups. This study aims to analyze the impact of different hen-rearing systems on egg characteristics, including their mass, the proportion of components (egg white, yolk, shell), and the content of minerals and metals. To determine the quantity of metals in the various egg components (shell, egg white, yolk), the X-ray fluorescence (XRF) met...

HRP IMMOBILIZATION IN BIOCOMPATIBLE SOL-GEL MATRICES

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Maria Magdalena Roșu, M Dragomirescu)

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is an enzyme belonging to the oxidoreductase class with applications in biotechnology and the food industry, environmental depollution and clinical diagnosis. HRP is an effective biocatalyst in the oxidation of organic compounds. Many biotechnology fields, such as environmental applications and the pharmaceutical industry, require stable peroxidase-based biocatalytic systems. The goal of our work was to develop efficient immobilized biocatalysts containing HRP. HRP immobilization was p...

BIOACTIVE COMPOUNDS FROM HORSERADISH FOR BIOTECHNOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-12-15, Maria Magdalena Roșu, M Dragomirescu)

The horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) is a root vegetable that belongs to the botanical family Brassicaceae and due to the high content of bioactive compounds, it has of great interest in many biotechnological fields. The high content of polyphenols, phenols, flavonoids, vitamin C and detoxification enzymes makes horseradish to have a great antioxidant potential and positive effects on the health, being used from ancient times as medicinal plant. The abundance of minerals, vitamins and dietary fibre make horseradi...

URTICA DOICA PLANTS: A POSSIBILITY TO EVALUATE CLIMATE CHANGE

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-12-15, Patricia Tarkanyi, Georgeta Popescu, Laura Radulescu, M Dragomirescu, Despina-Maria Bordean)

Urtica dioica L. is a multi-functional plant commonly known as stinging nettle, which has been used as wild vegetable for centuries. Stinging nettle is a highly nutritious vegetable due to its increased use in different food products and its health-promoting properties. Nettles are highly adaptable occurring in most common areas from unpolluted to highly polluted areas, along stream banks, farmland and also in highly disturbed areas. In hot areas, they prefer sites in partial shade, but accept to grow also in full...

Water quality is one of the most important element for life support and contribute at the sustainable develop of human society. Following the technical and economic transformations taking place in industry, waste water remediation system required new approaches to management in this area. It recorded an increase in the variety and complexity of the types and quantities of waste generated in the last years and for administrated this situation are necessary new methods and equipments of waste neutralisation or trans...
