STABILITY ESTIMATION FOR WASTE DUMPS FROM JIU VALLEY USING FUZZY THEORY IN THE CONTEXT OF THEIR ECOLOGICAL RECONSTRUCTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Maria Lazar)

Underground mines from Jiu Valley have as objective the extraction of hard coal, used for energetic purposes. Exploitation activities are associated with the extraction of significant amounts of sterile, derived from opening and preparing works, but also from coal processing activity. The sterile rocks are stored in waste dumps of different sizes, which must undergo periodic stability analysis. This paper aims to estimate waste dumps stability, by using fuzzy theory, the results of such an analysis being of qualit...

METHODOLOGY FOR ASSESSING THE OPPORTUNITIES OF FLOODING OF THE REMAINING GAPS OF LIGNITE OPEN-PITS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Izabela-Maria Nyari Apostu, Maria Lazar, Florin Faur)

Water filling of remaining gaps of lignite open-pits are used frequently worldwide, is economically acceptable, having long-term benefits, regardless of the use of pit lakes. Choosing this type of use leads to appearance of a water surface, which may increase, for example, the ecological, productive, cultural value of both the landscapes and terrains. However, not every remaining gap can be flooded for extremely diverse reasons (slope stability issues, climate, regional development strategy, etc.). The paper propo...

THE IMPACT OF MINING ACTIVITIES ON THE WATER QUALITY OF THE EAST JIU

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Simion Alexandru-Florin, Maria Lazar)

As a result of the massive industrialization, the eastern area of the Jiu Valley presents a significant degradation on the environment factors especially on the soil and water. The influence of mining activities on the environment begins with the prospecting and mining activity of the mining deposits and increases with the development of the productive activities. In the Eastern part of the Jiu Valley there are two active mining fields of a total of seven. The choice of the sites for the mining perimeters and the ...
