REGULATION OF THE MINERALIZATION AND HUMUFICATION PROCESSES IN NITISOLS FERRALIC AND HUMIC CAMBISOLS BY INTEGRATING 14C-MODIFIED TEA (Tea Sinensis) BIOMASS

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-11-15, Merab Mgeladze, Antaz Kikava, Besik Kalandadze, Khatuna Chichileishvili, Ilia Kalandadze)

This work delves into the process of phenolic oxidation products rdistribution in Nitisols Ferralic and Humic Cambisols, which were modified by (14C) introduced tea biomass. Metabolites derived from tea biomass were found to interact with humic and fulvic acids and form covalent bonds with them. The study of quantitative aspects of the inclusion of phenolic substances in the chemical composition of humic and fulvic acids reveals that humic acids incorporate a significantly greater amount of the radioactive tracer ...

POLLUTION OF SOILS AND WATER AND THE NEGATIVE IMPACT ON THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT AS A RESULT OF THE MINING AND PROCESSING OF MANGANESE ORES

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, Besik Kalandadze, Vazha Trapaidze, Ilia Kalandadze, A. Kikava, Merab Mgeladze)

Addressing environmental issues is related to the scientific, economic, social, and political issues of a particular country. Human impact on nature is increasingly strong to equal to the action of natural factors, resulting in an imbalance of forces between society and nature. Day by day, pollutants accumulate in some or other environmental object, some of which do not take part in the natural cycle and accumulate in the biosphere, causing adverse ecological consequences. Mining industry plays a special role in t...

SOME REGULARITIES OF DEGRADATION OF (14C)-LABELED TEA (Tea Sinensis) BIOMASS IN RED AND BROWN FOREST SOILS

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Merab Mgeladze, Antaz Kikava, Zhana Tchitanava, Ilia Kalandadze, Besik Kalandadze)

The studies using (14C)-labeled tea (Tea Sinensis) biomass have demonstrated that tea biomass is degraded in red (Nitisols Ferralic) and brown forest (Humic Cambisols) soils. The application of manganese sludge and manganese sulfate (MnSO4) in these soils increases the mineralization in both soil taxa evidencing an active participation of Mn ions in the degradation of phenolic substances. When applying manganese sludge and/or MnSO4 to the experimental samples, most of 14CO2 is released during the first 60 days as ...
