ECOLOGY AND LONG-TERM SECURITY OF ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE EXPLOITATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Nikolay Zhechev)

With climate changes, fortified steep slopes on the road infrastructure are suddenly aggravated by the sudden change in temperature and the rapid melting of accumulated snow. Increased water quantities cause surface and underground flows that turn the slopes into running earth and falling rock fragments. The drained earth mass and the rocks not only break the road bed, but also create a real threat to the safety of people and vehicles. The report, based on an example from practice, discusses aspects of some techni...

PROBLEMS OF ECOLOGY AND SECURITY IN THE CONTACT AREA BETWEEN OLD AND NEW TUNNELS

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Nikolay Zhechev)

When new constructions are performed near existing tunnels, emergency situations are often reached. Emergencies affect both the safety of the old tunnel and the stability of the natural environment. Emergency state parameters are examined for the causes of this degree of uncertainty. On the basis of an example from the practice, technical guidelines and measures are proposed to overcome the accidents and to permanently restore the security of the existing tunnels and sites affected by the new construction. Recomme...
