The processes of weathering and dissolution of the impoundment sediments have a significant impact on mobility and availability of trace elements such as arsenic and zinc. They can become dangerous sources of contamination for the surrounding ecosystem. The focus of this study is coal ash impoundment near the village Po\vsa, the drainage water contaminating surface waters and sediments of the Kyjov Brook and Ondava River.
