IMPACT OF BIOCHAR APPLICATION INTO SILT LOAM SOIL IN FIELD CONDITIONS DURING 2019

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Justína Vítková, Peter Šurda, Peter Rončák)

In current times of increasing weather extremes and climate change, there is a request for cheap and also high-quality agricultural products. It is important to fertilize soils and improve their physical and chemical properties to increase an agricultural production. To improve soil properties are used various organic materials, and biochar is one of them. Biochar, a product of thermal degradation of biomass, helps to improve the hydro-physical properties of the soil. It is produced from biomass by pyrolysis proce...

IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON THE HYDROPOWER POTENTIAL IN THE SELECTED RIVER BASINS IN SLOVAKIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Peter Rončák)

The article deals with an assessment of the impact of climate change on the hydropower potential in the selected river basins in Slovakia. The basic indicator of the potential for water energy utilization is the calculation of the so called hydropower potential (HPP). While the hydropower potential belongs to the natural riches of each country, and as it is linked to the use of the head (difference in water levels), it includes the technical and economic possibilities as well as the ecological and social prioritie...

IMPACTS OF CHANGES IN FOREST COMPOSITION AND CLIMATE CHANGE ON THE RUNOFF PROCESSES IN THE VAH RIVER BASIN IN SLOVAKIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Mgr. Peter Roncak, Kamila Hlavcova, Jana Poorova)

The article deals with impacts of changes in forest composition and climate change on the runoff processes in the river basin in Slovakia. This work contains land use change scenarios of forest associations and also two scenarios of global climate change. Both of scenarios types of changes were prepared, and the runoff under the new conditions was simulated. Distributed rainfall-runoff models simulations are often used to evaluate the impact of such changes on the generation of runoff. These models have the advant...

THE IMPACT OF LAND USE CHANGES ON FLOOD REGIME: A CASE STUDY OF THE MYJAVA CATCHMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Peter Roncak, Kamila Hlavcova, Jan Szolgay, Silvia Kohnova, Evelin Lisovszki)

This study focuses on the analysis of the impact of land use changes on the flood regime in the Myjava River basin located in the Western Slovakia. The Myjava River basin has an area of 641.32 km2 and is typical for the formation of fast runoff processes, intensive soil erosion and muddy floods. The main factors responsible for the problems with flooding and soil erosion are location, geology, pedology, agricultural land use and cropping practices. A GIS-based spatially distributed WetSpa rainfall-runoff model was...
