BATCH AND COLUMN STUDIES FOR CS REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTION USING NATURAL ZEOLITE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Lavinia Lupa, Laura Cocheci, Rodica Pode)

In this study, the adsorption behavior of natural zeolites (clinoptilolite) with respect to Cs+ has been studied in order to consider its application to purity radioactive wastewater. The natural zeolite was activated in two steps. In the first step with a 2 M HCl solution and then with 2 M NaOH solution. The natural and the chemical treated zeolite was subjected to FTIR spectroscopy, XRD (X-ray diffraction) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and EDX analysis. The batch method and column studies have been empl...

CONGO RED REMOVAL FROM WATER BY ZNAL-LDH OBTAINED FROM ZINC ASH

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Lavinia Lupa, Alin Golban, Laura Cocheci, Rodica Pode)

The aim of this work is the study of Congo Red removal from water by adsorption onto Zn4Al-CO3 type layered double hydroxide prepared from zinc ash. The preparation consist in dissolution of zinc ash with hydrochloric acid followed by synthesis of LDH by co-precipitation of zinc chloride with aluminum salt in alkaline media. The prepared LDH and the calcined product were utilized as adsorbents of azo dye Congo Red from water. Despite that the materials were prepared from a waste, their performances as adsorbents a...
