LOWER MOLASSE DEPOSITS OF DOFTANA MOLASSE AND SLANIC MOLASSE, LOCATED IN EASTERN CARPATHIANS, ROMANIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Roxana Magdalena Fechet)

The formations having accumulated during the Upper BurdigalianпїЅBadenian sedimentary cycle following a tectogenetic (Eostiric) paroxysm pertain to the Lower Molasse of the Eastern Carpathians and feature significant lithofacies variations. The formations of this sedimentary cycle in the Sl?nic PrahovaпїЅAluni? area (Prahova County, Romania) include Molasse-type deposits featuring well-individualised geological formations. Since the formations of this sedimentary cycle are the widest spread in the Sl?nicпїЅAluni? ...

TAILING PONDS - SOURCE OF SILICA RAW MATERIALS POTENTIALLY USEFUL IN CEMENT MANUFACTURE

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Roxana Magdalena Fechet, Adriana Moanta, Jenica Paceagiu, Ileana Mohanu)

Tailings ponds are permeable hydrotechnical structures for retention purposes, specifically designed for safely dumping mining waste from mining operations and for evacuating fluid tailings from mining sites. Tailings ponds are grouped in classes according to their type, intended service life and function at the mining site. Another important criterion of classification is the terrain where the tailings pond is situated. Tailings or mining waste can be defined as the commercially worthless fraction or the waste ma...

BADENIENE TUFFS OF THE SLANIC MOLASSE (EXTRA-CARPATHIAN ROMANIAN AREA) - DEPOSIT FOR CEMENT INDUSTRY AND PROTECT AREA

(Stef92 Technology, 2011-06-20, Roxana Magdalena Fechet)

The Globigerina–bearing Tuffs and Marls are deposits included in the Slanic Molasse. Several formations can be separated within these deposits some of the units maintaining remarkable lithofacial consistency, so that they can be recognized in the entire out – cropping area of the Carpathian Molasse. Th e Globigerina–bearing Tuffs and Marls has been described and separated by V. Marutiu under the name of the “Slanic Tuff”[1] . The most spectacular exposures of this formation occur at Piatra Verde near Sla...

SEDIMENTARY ROCKS, DEPOSITIONAL ENVIRONMENTS AND SEQUENCE STRATIGRAPHIC IN BURDIGALIAN AND BADENIAN DEPOSITS OF SLANIC PRAHOVA - ALUNIS (ROMANIA)

(Stef92 Technology, 2011-06-20, Roxana Magdalena Fechet)

Sedimentary analysis was based on formati ons of inferior Molasse which belong to Burdigalian and Badenian, being performed in representative natu ral claddings from Prahova, Romanian area. Complete successions of Variegated Formation and Globigerina – bearing Tuffs and Marls Formation may be followed in V. Mare – Alunis and Slanic–Piatra Verde Quarry (Prahova). The Variegated Formation is mostly ruditic– arenitic at its base, grading into a silty–lutitic sequence at the top. It mainly consists of conglo...
