GEOCHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS FOR DETERMINING THE DEPOSITIONAL CONDITIONS OF OIL SHALES IN THE ALASEHIR GRABEN IN WESTERN TURKEY

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Tamer Koralay, Demet Banu Koralay)

The Alasehir Graben hosts a thick sedimentary sequence of terrestrial clastics deposited from the Early Miocene to the present. Oil shales occur with thin- to medium-bedded sandstones, siltstones, and shales in the upper part of Alasehir Formation. This study evaluates depositional settings and paleoenvironmental conditions via inorganic geochemistry of oil shales. X-Ray Diffractometer results show the presence of quartz, clay, mica, feldspar, calcite, chlorite, pyrite, and ilmenite. Al2O3 shows strong positive co...

MINERAL CHEMISTRY OF OPHIOLITIC GABBROS WITHIN CENTRAL ANATOLIA: HIRFANLI DAM GABBROS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Tamer Koralay)

The tectonic evolution of the magmatic rocks the Central Anatolia (CA) began at the late Mesozoic with closure of Neotethys in the region. The Central Anatolia has experienced several magmatic events including felsic and mafic intrusions originated from collisional and/or extensional tectonic events. The felsic magmatism of the CA are well reported and studied, whereas the origin and temporal distributions of the mafic magmatism are still controversial. This study includes the preliminary results of the TUBITAK pr...

SPECTROSCOPIC CHARACTERIZATION OF MANGANESE OCCURRENCES ALONG CRACK SURFACES OF THE RHYOLITIC IGNIMBRITE (INNER WEST ANATOLIA-TURKEY)

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Tamer Koralay)

Manganese occurrences (eg. dendrite and/or surface coating) are highly usual products of many geologic environments. Morphology, spectroscopic and chemical properties of the manganese occurrences may vary depending on mode of environments. This study is concern with manganese occurrences along the minor cracks of Miocene ignimbrite unit, which has a wide range of exposure in the Afyonkarahisar region of the inner western part of Anatolia. The host rock has light gray, yellowish white in color and characterized by ...
