The present research explores the integration of a photovoltaic system for an educational building through a comparative analysis using the PVsyst and Simulink platforms. The building, intended for university education, is located in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Considering the building-s location and specific climate, the feasibility of installing a photovoltaic system was analyzed with the aim of reducing electricity consumption from the electrical grid. The study began with a PVsyst simulation, which indicated that a ...

Accounting for 40% of final energy consumption and 34% of emissions in the European Union, buildings have a significant role to play in achieving a carbon neutral Europe before 2050. But to make buildings more sustainable we need to assess and reduce carbon emissions at every stage of their life cycle, from construction materials to ongoing energy use. As heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems are the primary energy consumers in buildings, they offer significant potential for energy saving and it...

This study investigates the relationship between users- comfort and energy consumption in an educational building located in a humid continental climate. Through a year-long monitoring program, we collected data on indoor temperature, humidity, lighting levels, CO2 concentrations, and natural gas consumption. Our analysis revealed that during the heating season, the average indoor temperature was 24.03 degrees Celsius while natural gas consumption reached 41.71 megawatt-hours (MWh). By analyzing the relationship b...

The continuous improvement of building insulation and air tightness means that controlled ventilation is becoming more important every day. The ground-air heat exchanger makes a considerable contribution to this, especially when used in conjunction with an air heat exchanger unit. As well as increasing the quality of life within the building, this also provides significant energy cost reductions by using the embodied ground energy to pre-condition the incoming ventilation air. The Canadian wells use geothermal ene...
