EFFECT OF FREEZING ON THE STATOBLAST OF THE INVASIVE BRYOZOAN PECTINATELLA MAGNIFICA

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-11-15, Vendula Moravcová, Jana Moravcová, Václav Bystřický, Jakob Polensky)

Statoblasts are dormant, asexual propagules critical for the survival and dispersal of bryozoans, such as Pectinatella magnifica. Understanding the resilience of statoblasts to environmental stresses is crucial for predicting the response of bryozoan populations to changing conditions. This study investigates the effect of freezing on the viability of statoblasts from P. magnifica. Statoblasts were collected from Pectinatella magnifica colonies in the Protected Landscape area and Biospheric Reservation Trebonsko. ...

Cities in the Czech Republic and nearby Central Europe usually have a very long tradition. This post shows changes in the long run in the scope and function of green and water areas in selected municipalities. Most of the cities in the region were founded in the Middle Ages, from the 10th to the 13th century. At this time, the issue of water and green cities was directed purely at the utility function of drinking water and food supply. The exception at this time was only the gardens of noble and tin buildings. Ove...

An essential part of the development of municipalities is an investment in a properly functioning technical infrastructure. In addition to today's standard connection to the development of electricity, new investments in technical infrastructure related to the aquatic environment are also required concerning the interests of nature and especially the ecological hairline of water components. Many smaller municipalities are still not solved by sewerage of residential houses and other buildings, especially agricultur...

GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE IN URBAN PLANNING IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Vendula Moravcová, Jana Moravcová, Petra Kosova, Jiří Sláma)

The inclusion of greenery in spatial planning has an irreplaceable function. Not only do these areas fulfill an aesthetic function in otherwise monotonous areas of villages and towns, but they also significantly affect the quality of life of local citizens. These are primarily areas that provide a space for people to meet in a pleasant green environment and, thus, an opportunity to relax and recharge their batteries as a result of the positive effect of greenery on the human psyche. At the same time, green areas s...

Pectinatella magnifica is freshwater organism, which round-shaped colonies are most often found attached to the different submerged parts of coastal plants and can reach the weight even several kilograms. Usually it can be found in oligotrophic to mesotrophic waters, during the season when water temperature reaches 20пїЅC and more [4]. Although Pectinatella magnifica originally comes from North America, it has recently been known as an invasive species in Europe and part of Asia. The first recorded occurrence in E...
