ENERGY MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS TO INCREASE PERFORMANCE OF A SUPPLIER AND CONSUMER SYSTEM: CASE STUDY FOR AN UNIVERSITY CHP

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Diana Tuţică)

One of the main factors that influence the efficient use of cogeneration systems is the heat demand variation. The second influencing factor is generated by the restrictions imposed by the related legislation. Besides this two, the poor stage of the consumer?s insulation and of the heat distribution network, or the lack of the main know-how energy management concepts seriously affects the good functioning of a producer-consumer energy mix. The university together with the university Combined Heat and Power Plant (...

INCREASING PERFORMANCES OF A COMBINED HEAT AND POWER PLANT BY OPTIMAL TECHNOLOGY SELECTION AND OPERATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Diana Tuţică)

The efficient use of cogeneration systems depends on both the heat demand variations and on the restrictions imposed by the related legislation. In this paper, in order to optimize the operating regimes of a Combined Heat and Power Plant, authors have determined the correlation between functioning modes of the plants? equipment and the possible solutions to satisfy with precision the consumers? heat demand. Often, optimizing only the operating regimes can be non-profitable, especially for the case of modern and pe...

ENERGY SAVING AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION BY INTEGRATING COGENERATION IN NEW RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Diana Tutica, Paula Tudor, Roxana Patrascu, Eduard Minciuc, George Darie)

The case study analyzed in the paper refers to a group of new buildings built near the campus of the University Politehnica of Bucharest. The UniversityпїЅs campus has its own cogeneration power plant equipped with two reciprocating engines using natural gas. Each engine generates 800 kWe of electricity for UniversityпїЅs own consumption and for selling it on electricity market. During the winter time the heat recovered from the two engines, is used within the district heating network of the UniversityпїЅs campus....

INCREASING ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND THERMAL COMFORT IN HISTORICAL BUILDINGS - CASE STUDY FOR ROMANIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Diana Tutica, Victor Eduard Cenusa, Florin Niculae Alexe, George Darie)

Historical buildings are a major part of European and national cultural heritage which people all around the world decided should be preserved for the future. In order to conserve both the construction elements and the thermal comfort, it is crucial to find the optimal configuration of the energy related equipment. These units, besides fulfilling the parameters of thermal comfort, are also subject to the EU Ecodesign and energy labeling requirements and must meet a series of architectural restrictions. This articl...

INCREASING THE EFFICIENCY OF COGENERATION PLANTS WITH GAS TURBINES, BY USING COMBINED GAS-STEAM CYCLES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Victor-Eduard CENUSA, Diana TUTICA, Florin-Niculae ALEXE, Student Costel-Valentin APOSTOL)

The paper is a technical analysis for choosing the heat supply source of a technological heat consumer requiring steam at 2 parameters pairs: 32 bar & 400?C, respectively 6.4 bar & at least 200?C. The analysis of the whole combined heat and power plant (CHPP) processes and performances are performed for 4 CHPP designs, all of them with Gas Turbines (GT) and Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSG), through the numerical modeling of the processes in the CHPP components and by assembling them. The computing steps are: ...
