EVALUATION OF DIFFERENT POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS FOR MAINTAINING THERMAL COMFORT: STUDY CASE FOR HISTORICAL BUILDING

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Paula Tudor)

One of the most important stages of the rehabilitation process, in the case of historical buildings, is to find the best solutions that can ensure, in the most efficient and nonaggressive way, the thermal comfort inside the building. In the study of this case, the authors identified several essential aspects in determining the best practices for assuring the heat consumption in buildings declared as historical monuments dating back to the 18th century. Among these we can mention: the destination of the building (t...

HERITAGE BUILDINGS AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN BUCHAREST

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Paula Tudor)

The importance of keeping in good shape and transmitting the world heritage to future generations is accepted worldwide unanimously. The values of the past are those that define a country, and for which society must ensure as efficiently as possible their protection, while adapting them to advancing technology. At present, there is a well-established legislation on the energy efficiency of new or renovated buildings. This facilitates the achievement of a ranking and therefore a labeling based on energy consumption...

The case study analyzed in the paper refers to a group of new buildings built near the campus of the University Politehnica of Bucharest. The UniversityпїЅs campus has its own cogeneration power plant equipped with two reciprocating engines using natural gas. Each engine generates 800 kWe of electricity for UniversityпїЅs own consumption and for selling it on electricity market. During the winter time the heat recovered from the two engines, is used within the district heating network of the UniversityпїЅs campus....

THERMAL COMFORT ASSURANCE IN HISTORICAL BUILDINGS STUDY CASE FOR TOURING FACILITY

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Paula Tudor)

There is a significant number of historical buildings with different destinations in Romania and all of these are yet dealing with major problems in terms of energy efficiency. The legal status of these buildings involves various restrictions concerning solutions that might be applied in order to ensure itsпїЅ energy efficiency. Therefore, applying the classic solutions to maintain the thermal comfort within patrimony buildings becomes very hard to accomplish or even impossible in some cases. The purpose of the st...
