THE ROLE OF A PRIORI DATA IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SEISMIC TOMOGRAPHIC MODEL OF THE KHIBINY MASSIF

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Anzhela Zhirova, Dmitry Zhirov)

The aim of the study is to construct a priori constraints imposed on the model in the course of solving the inverse seismic problem. The object of the simulation is the structure of the upper part of the Khibiny massif — the largest alkaline massif located on the territory of the Kola Peninsula. The research is based on shallow-depth seismic tomographic modeling, which includes multi-stage work. Petrophysical materials concerning the main classes of rocks of the surface of the Khibiny massif and its framing were p...

PROSPECTING CRITERIA FOR OFF-SET APATITE-NEPHELINE DEPOSITS IN THE KHIBINY MASSIF AREA

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Dmitry Zhirov)

Phosphates are one of strategic mineral resources that provide the food safety of any country. The specific feature of the raw-material base in the Kola region is the endogenic type of apatite deposits. All industrial reserves and resources of apatite-nepheline ores (ANO) are confined to PZ alkaline-ultrabasic carbonatite complexes and, mainly, to the Khibiny massif (KM). 15 unique apatite-nepheline deposits and occurrences are located here. Some of them are the world-class scale. ANO of the KM are highly eco-frie...

SUN-MOON TIDES AND INDUCED SEISMICITY AT THE MINES IN THE KHIBINY MASSIF (NE OF THE FENNOSCANDIAN SHIELD)

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Dmitry Zhirov)

It is known that the solar-moon tides (SMT) influence often serves as a trigger releasing seismic energy in a prepared area of the earth's crust. The regular increase in the number of earthquakes during the syzygy and perigee was empirically determined at the end of the 19th century by A. Perret [1]. The tidal force reaches its highest value when the perigee coincides with syzygy, which occurs once a year. The such pattern is observed for rock bursts (RB) also. However, it should be noted that the most tide influe...

NEOTECTONICS OF THE KHIBINY ALKALINE MASSIF

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Dmitry Zhirov)

The Khibiny massif is the world?s biggest alkaline pluton with the size of 44 x 35 km in the plan and the area of some 1330 km2. The Devonian intrusion is a conical stock passing into the lopolith. To date, a set of observations and phenomena has been compiled, characterizing the Khibiny massif neotectonics as very complex and contradictory in many respects. It stands out with its high compressive stresses (first tens MPa) of the sub-horizontal position in the area of exploited deposits; major faults traced along ...

3D-ANALYSIS OF THE ROCK BURST TAKEN PLACE ON 27/01/2016 AT MINING SECTION 14 OF THE KIROVSK MINE (KHIBINY, RUSSIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Dmitry Zhirov)

In late January of 2016 (27/01/2016) at Mining Section 14 (Block 7/10) of the Kukisvumchorr flank of the Kirovsk Mine (Khibiny), a violent seismo-dynamic event (lgE ? 8.11) took place to induce significant destructions and deformations of workings at Drill & haulage horizon 4 (4DHH) with an average elevation of +236 meter, 1DHH (+183 m), and possibly at 2DHH (+209 m), which is unavailable for examination. The dislocations, deformations and roof break formation occurred both at the cross-measure (predominantly) and...

NEW TYPE OF BRITTLE DEFORMATIONS: TWO-AXIAL TURN STRUCTURE OF FRACTURES IN THE KOVDOR CARBONATITE INTRUSION (NW RUSSIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Dmitry Zhirov)

The investigation of the fault tectonics in the Kovdor carbonatite intrusion (NW Russia) has resulted in the identification of a new brittle deformations type. It is formed due to the simultaneous turn of fissure planes at discrete angles around two orthogonal guiding lines (axes), where one is represented by a vertical massif symmetry axis (L1), and the other axis (L2) lies horizontally in the fracture plane. Nonetheless, the rotation along the both axes is codirectional, i.e., when moving counterclockwise around...
