WOOD WASTE IS AN ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY AND EFFECTIVE SORBENT FOR WASTEWATER TREATMENT FROM HEAVY METALS

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Irina Bejanidze, Nunu Nakashidze, Nato Didmaidze, Nazi Davitadze, Vakhtang Tavdgiridze)

The study examined the sorption properties of beech, chestnut, and pine sawdust, as well as pine pellets, focusing on their ability to remove heavy metal ions from aqueous solutions. The kinetics of sorption were analyzed using CuSO4-5H2O and FeSO4-7H2O solutions (10?5-10?- M) over 1, 2, 4, 24, and 48 hours. Sorbents were modified with HCl and NaCl, and their efficiency was evaluated by measuring pH and electrical conductivity before and after sorption. Chestnut sawdust demonstrated the highest sorption capacity, ...

VALORIZATION OF CITRUS FRUIT PROCESSING WASTE

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, Nazi Davitadze, Irina Bejanidze)

Currently, the food industry accounts for the largest amount of waste, a third of which is waste from the processing of fruits into natural fruit juices, the consumption of which has recently increased significantly due to health problems among the population. The transition to a healthier and more natural lifestyle involves reducing the consumption of soft drinks, which can contain high concentrations of sugars, artificial colors, preservatives, and increasing the production of natural juices. Studies were carrie...

CORRECTION OF THE CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF THE WASHING WATERS RECEIVED AS A RESULT OF H CATION EXCHANGE OF ION- EXCHANGE RESIN

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Irina Bejanidze)

Increasing production scale and demand highlights the necessity of industrial waste water purification. Such water, except for harmful impurities that pollute environment ecologically, contain substances whose return into the production cycle makes the production process more economical. From this point of view, purification and concentration of water generated after the regeneration of cationites used in the process of water treatment, is more relevant. Lot of productions, such as energy, electronic, radio techno...

DEVELOPMENT OF WASTE-FREE, ECO-PURE COMBINED TECHNOLOGY FOR FRUIT PROCESSING

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Irina Bejanidze)

The objective of this work was to develop the waste-free eco-pure composite technology for fruit and vegetable processing to produce high quality, storage- and sediment-resistant juices, pectin, P vitamin and essential oils within a single production cycle. Georgia is an agricultural country with a large cultivation of fruit and vegetables. At present, they are processed in small amounts and of rather low quality. The juice produced by the conventional technology is not stable, as its pulp precipitates, but the ju...

INFLUENCE OF TECHNOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF ULTRAFILTRATION PROCESS OF VEGETABLE JUICES ON THEIR QUALITY

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Irina Bejanidze)

Natural vegetable juices contain the essential vitamins and nutrients for human body. Therefore, they represent a good opportunity for the treatment and prevention of various diseases. With the vitamins, taken through the juice, the human body becomes more resistant to viruses and infections, stressful situations and intense physical stress, the metabolism is being normalized. Fresh vegetables and fruit juices contain organic acids and mineral substances (potassium, calcium, iron, copper, magnesium, phosphorus, ma...
