INFORMATIVE VALUE OF ELECTRICAL CABLE REACTION TO FIRE CLASS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-12-05, Jozef Martinka)

Electrical cables are one of the key components of green building technologies. They are crucial for the operating of many green building technologies (e.g. power transfer from the solar cell to other building electric devices). For fire safety level assessment of electrical cables installed in green buildings are used their fire characteristics. The reaction to fire is the fundamental and most important fire characteristic of electrical cables. Nevertheless, it is used almost exclusively in the prescriptive appro...

NEW TRENDS IN FIRE TESTING OF ELECTRICAL CABLES

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-11-20, Jozef Martinka)

This paper deals with new trends in fire testing of electrical cables. At present, the most widely used tests of electrical cables are reaction to fire tests. The cable systems powering electrical devices which have to remain operational for a certain period of time under fire conditions are additionally subjected to circuit integrity maintenance testing. New trends in cable fire tests include tests of critical heat flux, testing the effect of cable inclination, current load, voltage and frequencies to the rate of...

DETETMINATION OF THE HEAT GENERATION OF WOOD PELLETS DURING FLAME AND FLAMELESS COMBUSTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Igor Wachter, Doc. Jozef Martinka, Peter Rantuch, Jozef Horvath, Karol Balog)

The aim of this paper is to thermo-analytically study the process of heat generation during flame and flameless combustion of lignocellulos pellets dust made from various types of raw materials. The heat release rate of the test samples was measured by a cone calorimeter. Different heat fluxes (30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 kW.m-2) were used to determine the behaviour of three different types of lignocellulose pellets dust under a thermal load. The mass loss and the time to ignition was continuously monitored during each ...

KEY PROPERTIES OF COMBUSTION PRODUCTS AND THEIR APPLICATION IN FIRE SAFETY ENGINEERING

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Jozef Martinka, Igor Wachter, Peter Rantuch, Karol Balog)

The presented paper covers the research of combustion products of selected natural and synthetic polymers and their key properties in terms of toxic effects on living organisms and the visibility in the area affected by fire. The samples of silver birch (Betula verrucosa Ehrh.), common oak (Quercus robur L.), Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.), polyethylene and polypropylene were investigated. The examined materials were compared in the regard to their toxicity of the combustion products based on the carbon m...
