HEALTH RISK UNDER MULTICOMPONENT AMBIENT AIR POLLUTION IN LARGE CITY WITH METALLURGICAL AND PULP AND PAPER PRODUCTIONS

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, I. V. May, S. V. Kleyn, Еkaterina V. Maksimovа, S. A. Vekovshinina)

Health risk should be considered a key component in the environmental safety, especially in urbanized territories with developed industries. The research aim was to assess health risks in a city with developed metallurgic andpulp and paper industries in order to substantiate future activities aimed at protectinghuman health and the environment.Bratsk was chosen as a research object since it is a large industrials center located in theEastern Siberia in the Russian Federation; the city population is more than 200 tho...

AMBIENT AIR QUALITY FACTORS AND PEOPLE HEALTH

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-12-20, S.V. Kleyn, Н.В. Зайцева, Svetlana A. Vekovshinina, Alena M. Andrishunas)

This study performed a hygienic analysis of pollutant emissions from stationary and mobile sources and hygienic assessment of air quality for 2007-2019 according to official statistics of the Russian Federation. It was found that the main sources of emissions are motor vehicles, ferrous and nonferrous metallurgy, fuel and energy complex, machine building, timber, woodworking, coal, mining, pulp and paper, chemical and oil refining industries. As results of hygienic analysis showed, the total amount of pollutant em...

EXPERIENCE IN OPTIMIZING PROGRAMS FOR MONITORING AMBIENT AIR QUALITY IN A LARGE INDUSTRIAL CENTER USING HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT AND GEOINFORMATION TECHNOLOGIES

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, S.V. Kleyn, Н.В. Зайцева, I.V. May, Alena M. Andrishunas)

The present work dwells on testing methodical approaches to optimization of programs for monitoring over ambient air quality. The key issue here was to determine how many control points are required and make up a list of substances for monitoring in a large industrial center with its area exceeding 350 square kilometers and population more than 1 million people. Ambient air quality in the examined city is influenced by more than 150 industrial enterprises operating in metallurgy, civil engineering, chemical indust...

IMPOSING LIMITS ON POLYPHOSPHATES IN SYNTHETIC DETERGENTS AS A WAY TO PREVENT CONTAMINATION OF WATER BASINS AND COURSES USED FOR COMMUNAL NEEDS AND DRINKING WATER SUPPLY

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-12-20, I.V. May, S.V. Kleyn, Н.В. Зайцева, Svetlana A. Vekovshinina)

The Russian Federation proposes to impose limits on use of polyphosphates (tripolyphospahte, phosphate compounds, and phosphor) in synthetic detergents in the Eurasian Economic Union. The primary reason for this proposition to make amendments into the EAEU countries legislation is a possible decrease in quality of natural water objects used as drinking water supply sources. When it comes to phosphor derivatives, this deterioration is caused by eutrophication. Analysis of hydrological and hydrochemical data reveale...

MONITORING OVER WATER SOURCES USED FOR CENTRALIZED DRINKING WATER SUPPLY TO POPULATION IN THE IN THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-12-20, Н.В. Зайцева, I.V. May, S.V. Kleyn, Svetlana A. Vekovshinina)

The research focused on hygienic assessment of surface and underground water sources used for centralized drinking water supply to RF population over the last 20 years. Official statistic data collected on sanitary situation in RF regions by Rosstat over 2000-2019 were used as a basic source of information. A database has been created; it contains more than 165 thousand data entries on 16 parameters describing surface and underground water sources used for centralized drinking water supply to population in 85 RF r...

TYPOLOGIZATION OF RF REGIONS ACCORDING TO SANITARY-EPIDEMIOLOGIC, MEDICAL-DEMOGRAPHIC AND SOCIOECONOMIC DETERMINANTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Н.В. Зайцева, S.V. Kleyn, Maxim V. Glukhikh)

The article focuses on basic socioeconomic and sanitary-epidemiologic parameters as well as parameters that characterize population health in RF regions. The research goal was to search for reasons that could potentially explain short life expectancy in some RF regions via combining similar territories into groups according to selected parameters. The authors applied a specific statistic procedure for data processing, cluster analysis; it allowed distributing RF regions into 4 clusters where analyzed determinants ...

ABOUT THE OPTIMIZATION OF PROGRAMS FOR MONITORING OVER AMBIENT AIR QUALITY IN A LARGE INDUSTRIAL CENTRE USING THE GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND POPULATION'S HEALTH RISK ASSESSMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, S.V. Kleyn)

The study focuses on programs for optimization of ambient air quality monitoring in residential areas in a large industrial center. The method for establishing the optimal number and location of sampling points and monitoring programs has been proposed and tested. The list of the chemical compounds to be controlled was determined by using the methodology of the population?s health risk assessment and spatial analysis of exposure levels and formed risk parameters on the basis of the geographic information systems. ...
