HYDROMETALLURGICAL METHODS OF GALVANIC SLUDGE RECYCLING

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Hana Rigoulet, Silvie Brožová, Jaromír Drápala, Aleš Slíva)

The paper deals with the possibility of obtaining zinc and iron from waste galvanic sludge, which arises during galvanic plating. Galvanic sludges, which contain more significant amounts of heavy metals, form wastes that are suitable for recycling. These arise during the treatment of wastewater from the operation of the electroplating plant. It is a mixture of metal hydroxides, mainly iron, zinc, chromium, and others. The sludge is sedimented in the reaction wells and, after sedimentation, is pumped into the sludg...

TRENDS IN THE USE OF LEACHING AGENTS FOR THE RECOVERY OF METALS FROM ELECTRONIC WASTE

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Silvie Brožová, Magdalena Lisińska, M. Saternus, B. Gajda)

Waste electronic equipment has become one of the fastest growing waste streams in the world. Mobile phones make up a large proportion of this waste. They cause not only ecological threat, but also a serious waste of resources, including copper. That is why new and effective ways of processing this waste and reusing recovered metals are increasingly being sought. Most modern research on the recovery of non-ferrous and precious metals from mobile phones has focused on hydrometallurgical and biometallurgical techniqu...

EFFICIENCY OF LEACHING OF USED PCBS USING DIFFERENT ACIDS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Silvie Brožová)

Today, waste of electrical and electronic equipment is a big problem because it contains heavy metals such as copper, cadmium or nickel that cause neurological diseases. In addition, such waste also contains precious metals such as gold and silver, which makes this material really attractive for recovery. One of the fastest-generated groups of electrical and electronic waste is mobile phones. In 2008, the global sale of smartphones reached the level of 140 million units, while in 2015 it is rapidly growing to the ...

THE ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS OF THE USE OF ALTERNATIVE FUELS FOR SINTERING PROCESS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, doc. Pavlina Pustejovska, Bc.Michal Sikora, doc. Silvie Brozova)

The problems of sintering process are dust emissions and pollutant emissions, especially SO2. During the actual production in the sintering process emission ceiling limits are exceeded. They are being implemented measures that prevent from breaking SO2 emission limit. The sulfur content of feedstocks influences both the quality of sinter and the pig iron and the amount of SO2 emissions. One of the possibilities is a partial substitution of coke dust with anthracite. World steel production will continue to be domin...
