TREATMENT OF YOUNG LANDFILL LEACHATE BY FENTON PROCESS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2008, A. Aygun, T. Yilmaz, A. Berktay, B. Nas)

In this study leachate from solid waste landfill in Konya Municipal area was used. Landfill occupies 24 ha area with an average height of 8 m in the total area of 350 ha at the present time. The amount of solid waste generated is about 800-850 tons/day in summer and 950-1,000 tons/day in winter months yielding the average leachate flow rates of about 100 m3/day. The main characteristics of the leachate are chemical oxygen demand in the range of 7,500-55,000 mg/L, biological oxygen demand after 5 days of 4,000-36,5...

THE INVESTIGATION OF GOLD AND SILVER RECOVERY FROM AKOLUK (ORDU -TURKEY) ORE

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2006, O. Celep, I. Alp, H. Deveci, M. Vicil, T. Yilmaz)

In this study, the amenability of Akoluk (Ordu -Turkey) ore to the extraction of gold and silver by cyanide leaching was investigated. Mineralogical analysis of the ore has revealed the presence of native gold and a variety of minerals including barite, zinkenite, stibnite, orpiment, realgar, cinnober, pyrite and sphalerite. No silver was detectable under microscope suggesting that it could be present as occluded in minerals such as fahlerz, antimonite and zinkenite. Gold particles as 1-88 $\mu$m in size were obse...

CHARACTERIZATION OF REFRACTORY BEHAVIOUR OF KALETAS GOLD ORE BY ULTRAFINE GRINDING AND DIAGNOSTIC LEACHING

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2005, O. Celep, I. Alp, H. Deveci, T. Yilmaz)

In this study, diagnostic leaching and ultrafine grinding as pretreatment step ahead of two-stage cyanidation of KaletaЕџ ore were studied to shed light on the refractory characteristics of ore. The overall gold extraction of 93\% was achieved in two-stage cyanidation of ultrafinely ground ore suggesting the presence of readily recoverable gold (74\%) and slowly reacting gold (19\%) in the ore. Diagnostic leaching approach provided information into the cause of the refractoriness of the ore. The findings of diagno...

CONCENTRATION OF KAYABAЕћI-TRABZON (TURKEY) CU-ZN ORE BY FLOTATION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2005, T Yilmaz, I. Alp, H. Deveci, O. Celep)

In this study, flotation concentration of Trabzon-KayabaЕџД± Massive Sulphide ore was investigated. The effects of particle size, reagent concentration (collector and depressant) and agitation speed on the recovery of copper were studied. The results have shown that the ore responded poorly to concentration by flotation with low efficiency of seperation of copper minerals from sphalerite and pyrite. Changing the flotation conditions i.e. decreasing particle size to >99\% passing 38 $\mu$m or increasing the concent...

DETERMINATION OF THE DEGREE OF LIBERATION AND OPTIMUM GRIND TIME OF KAYABAЕћI- TRABZON (TURKEY) CU-ZN MASSIVE ORE

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2003, I. Alp, T. Yilmaz, E. Y. Yazici, O. Celep)

Detailed geological and drilling investigations have shown KayabaЕџД± deposit, located in Trabzon-Turkey, has a resource of 590 000 tons ore containing 2.2\% Cu and 1029 kg Au. The ore body shows the characteristics of both massive- and stockworktype sulfide mineralization. In this study, mineralogical analysis and flotation tests were performed to determine the degree of liberation of sulfides and the optimum grind time for the massive ore samples. Covellite and chalcocite were identified as the main copper miner...
