ASSESSMENT OF THE EFFICIENT APPLICATIONS OF KARELIA-S TALC-BEARING ROCKS BASED ON GEOLOGO-TECHNOLOGICAL DATA

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Vera Ilyina)

The possible efficient application of Karelia?s talc-bearing rocks is assessed. Two groups of talc-bearing rocks: 1) talc ores subjected to flotation dressing for talc production and 2) soapstone containing chlorite, which, like talc, forms foliated-imbricate aggregates and is hard to separate upon dressing. High-quality reagent-free micronized concentrate (microtalc), which can be used for the production of technical rubber articles, plastics and ceramics, was produced using a flow chart developed for Svetloozers...

GEOLOGICAL AND MINERALOGO-TECHNOLOGICAL EVALUATION OF PYROXENITE AS REPUBLIC OF KARELIA-S NON-CONVENTIONAL HIGH-MG SILICATE MINERAL RAW MATERIAL

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Vera Ilyina)

The results of the geological and mineralogo-technological studies of ultramafic rocks of pyroxene composition as a non-conventional high-Mg mineral raw material, exemplified by various Karelia?s deposits, such as Aganozero chromium ore, Buntin Hill dimension stone and Gaikolya base-mineral ores, are reported. High-Mg ultramafic rocks, such as olivinite, olivinite, dunite, peridotite and serpentinite, are of interest as mineral products on the world market. Pyroxenites are not used now practically in industry, but...

HIGH-MG ROCKS FROM THE AGANOZERO CHROMITE ORE DEPOSIT, REPUBLIC OF KARELIA, AND THEIR APPLICATIONS

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Vera Ilyina)

The results of the study of high-Mg rocks from the Aganozero chromite deposit, located in the Republic of Karelia, are reported. It is a complex type of deposits. Other promising useful minerals, in addition to chromite ore mining, are Mg-rich ultramafics such as olivinite, dunite, serpentinite and pyroxenite. High-Mg dunite units are thick, and their MgO concentration varies 36.97 from 46.77%. Aganozero dunite is a good raw material for the production of refractory materials, e.g. refractory bricks, steel furnace...

THE STUDY OF SERPENTINIZED ULTRAMAFICS FROM THE KARELIAN-KOLA REGION AND THE PRODUCTION OF A MG-RICH-SILICATE REAGENT ON THEIR BASIS FOR THE REMOVAL OF HEAVY METALS FROM SOLUTIONS

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Vera Ilyina)

The present study was conducted to develop a method for utilization of serpentinized ultramafic rocks as mining waste using nature conservation technologies. In this method, the original raw material is thermally activated to obtain an active metastable phase. The goal of the study is to produce a granulated Mg-silicate reagent used to remove heavy metal compounds from solutions. Pentinsuo antigorite, Ozerki soapstone deposit in the Kostomuksha area, Karelia, Russia, and serpophyte from the Pilguj?rvi massif, Pech...

HIGH-MG-SILICATE ROCK-BASED HEAT-INSULATING AND FACING BUILDINGMATERIALS FROMKARELIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Vera Ilyina)

A considerable progress in industrial construction and civil engineering makes it necessary to increase the production and application of new heat-insulating materials based on accessible environmentally safe mineral products. The mineral composition and structural characteristics of KareliaпїЅs natural raw materials are favourable for the production of ceramic heat-insulating materials with required properties and characteristics such as porous structure, low density, low thermal conductivity and high strength. T...

TALC-BEARING ROCKS OF KARELIA, THEIR PROPERTIES AND POSSIBLE APPLICATION (EXEMPLIFIED BY THE KALLIEVO-MURENNANVAARA DEPOSIT)

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Vera Ilyina)

Talc-bearing rocks in Kallievo-Murennanvaara deposit are associated with ultramafic rocks of peridotite-picritic series. Serpentinized rocks in the picritic portion of the sequence remained unaffected by talc alteration. Peidotitic komatiites, occurring below picrites which were altered to talc-carbonate rocks by carbon dioxide and then to talc-chloritic rocks under the influence of silica and alumina (the result of granite formation), were productive for soapstone. Kallievo-Murennanvaara soapstone deposit, is loc...
