One of a country s most valuable natural resources is its soil, and since it cannot be replaced, it must be protected. In addition to being an important part of the environment with a variety of functions, it is crucial for agricultural and forestry productivity. Nevertheless, the soil is in danger due to a number of processes. In the Czech Republic, these are primarily water and wind erosion. Agroforestry systems are one of the options to reduce them. Furthermore, they can enhance water management, mitigate the e...

VOLUMETRIC QUANTIFICATION OF SOIL LOSS IN A PART OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF OTNICE IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-12-15, Lukas Bursik, Miroslav Dumbrovský, Veronika Sobotková)

This paper deals with the volumetric quantification of soil loss. A device called erosion bridge was used for the quantification. It was designed and created at the Institute of Landscape Water Management, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Brno University of Technology. The principle of the measurement with the use of this device is that the needles are lowered onto the terrain surface and their profile copies the terrain profile. A camera attached to the erosion bridge is important, which is used to take photographs ...

ANALYSIS OF CHOSEN LOCALITY IN THE SOUTH MORAVIAN REGION IN TERMS OF RUNOFF AND EROSION CONDITIONS AND IN TERMS OF POLLUTION OF SURFACE WATER

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-12-15, Lukáš Buršík, Miroslav Dumbrovský, Veronika Sobotková, Marcela Pavlíková)

Firstly, this paper is focused on the analysis of runoff and erosion conditions in the chosen locality, which is in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. The analysis was made using geographic information systems, mainly the ArcGIS Pro software program. Water erosion endangers more than fifty percent of arable land in the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, there is no systematic protection of the majority of soil erosion-threatened areas that would prevent further losses. One of the main causes of this is t...

VOLUMETRIC QUANTIFICATION OF SOIL EROSION AND ANALYSIS OF CHOSEN LOCALITY IN TERMS OF RUNOFF AND EROSION CONDITIONS

The purpose of this paper is volumetric quantification of soil erosion using the so-called erosion bridge. For the measurement, a locality in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic was chosen. With the erosion bridge, we can measure erosion rills. Rill erosion is caused by concentrated water flow. It occurs when runoff water forms small channels as it concentrates down a slope. The erosion bridge is a very simple device that enables us to accurately measure the shape of the soil surface in a given place. ...
