ESTIMATION OF HYDROLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF LAKES USING REMOTE SENSING METHODS: A CASE-STUDY OF THE LAKES OF THE SHCHUCHINSK-BOROVSKAYA SYSTEM, KAZAKHSTAN

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Farida Akiyanova, Zhanbota Mussagaliyeva, Adlet Nazhbiyev, Bauyrzhan Toleukhanuly, Yergali Karakulov)

The Shchuchinsko-Borovskaya system, consisting of seven large lakes, was studied. Lakes of tectonic origin are located at different absolute levels within the granite massif. The water in the lakes is fresh, less often brackish, and previously has been widely used for agricultural and drinking purposes. Based on monitoring data and analysis of a long-term series of satellite images over the past 30 years, a significant decrease in the level of the lakes and water resources has been revealed. This has affected the ...

THE CHARACTERISTICS OF VALLEY RESERVOIR OPERATION IN LOWLAND RIVERS: A CASE-STUDY OF THE ASTANA RESERVOIR ON THE YESIL RIVER, KAZAKHSTAN

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Farida Akiyanova, Altynay Shaimerdenova, Yergali Karakulov, Nurlan Ongdas, Arman Kabdeshev)

The majority of the rivers in Kazakhstan can be characterized as plain and lowland type. The flow in such rivers is uneven both within the year and over the years. In order to regulate this variability, to conserve water resources as well as to provide water for domestic use the reservoirs have been built. In Kazakhstan, there are 43 large on stream and valley reservoirs on 33 rivers, half of which are on plain, lowland rivers. One of such reservoirs, Astana reservoir is studied in this paper. It is situated on th...

APPLICATION OF THE METHODS OF REMOTE SENSING OF THE EARTH TO STUDY THE BATHYMETRY OF THE COASTAL PART OF THE ASTANA RESERVOIR (KAZAKHSTAN)

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Farida Akiyanova)

The possibility of the application of satellite bathymetry methods was studied in order to obtain quantitative parameters of the depth of the coastal part of the Astana reservoir (Kazakhstan). The relevance of the research is associated with the application of new technologies for the operational evaluation of changes in the level of the water line and the volume of the reservoir, which supplies Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, with drinking water. The initial data were satellite images with different resolu...
