Today, application of contemporary methods for geological data processing is unavoidable part of geological studies. Thereupon, the geological studies of the variety of different problems that they must be solved are done by a rule – definite method which complies with the designing stages. This paper presents a methodology developed to process geological information in this context. The aims of this methodology are comprehensive data description, effective data validation and easier model updates. Thus, special...

Kosova is a country rich in coal, mainly lignite type and regarding to the reserves, it is ranked in the fifth place in the world. Estimated resources of lignite are average 12.7miliard tones, which are distributed in three main basins (Kosova, Dukagjin and Drenica). Approximately 50\% of entire country natural resources constitutes this type of coal. Thermo energetically installed power is 1478 MW , and lignite supply is from open pits, Mirash and Bardhosh with the use of lignite capacity of 16 million tones per ...

KOSOVO COAL BASIN, COAL EXPLOITATION, IMPACT IN ENVIRONMENT

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, H. Hajra, N. Peci, B. Baruti)

Tectonic hollow of Kosovo with characteristic geological construction, specific geological - historical development and the presence of a great number of lignite strata in new sediments, present a very interesting region, specific for multidimensional study. The considerable reserves of lignite in Kosovo basin, ascertain from geological exploration, present important recourse in one side whereas its exploitation for combustion in Kosovo power plants presents a great environmental problem on the other side. Kosovo ...

Kosovo is rich in coal resources / reserves. There are about 14 billion tones coal resources in Kosova. The coal in Kosova is used mainly in power (electricity) generation and less amount for heating. Kosovo coal is lignite type. Exploitation of coal is being donning in two open pits Bardh and Mirash. There is also a project for building of the new power plant (capacity 2000 MW). For this, supply of coal should be made by the new mine - Sibovci. The underground mining was abandoned in 1922. Now it is the surface m...
