DISCREPANCY ON GEOLOGY DESCRIPTION BETWEEN MAP SHEETS K34-53 \& K34-54 1:100 000

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, S. Mulaj, N. Peci, Z. Elezaj)

For all territory of Kosova during 1966 – 1982 were compiled geological map sheets at scale 1:100 000 and description texts. During 2005 – 2006 ICMM had projects on compiling Geological map at scale 1:200 000 and digitalization of geological map sheets at scale 1:100 000. Projects were realized by Beak Consultants GmbH and in close corporation with geology staff of ICMM. During map digitalization were observed some discrepancies between some map sheets. In order to verify exacts description, during 2005 were o...

HYDROGEOLOGICAL CONDITIONS OF COAL DEPOSIT-A CASE STUDY OF SIBOVCI, KOSOVA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, S. Avdullahi, B. Baruti, I. Fejza, A. Tmava, I. Krasniqi, N. Peci, S. Berisha, S. Mulaj)

The coal basin of Kosova has a huge coal reserves, they are the main power sources for thermo power stations of Kosova. The lignite is distributed across the Kosova, Dukagjini and Drenica Basins, although mining has so far been restricted to the Kosova Basin. The first systematic records of lignite exploitation since 1922, when a smallscale, shallow underground room-and-pillar mining commenced in the Kosova Basin. This case of study presents the hydrogeological conditions of the coalfield Sibovc, which is a part o...

IMPACT OF ARTANA MINE ON POLLUTION OF “KRIVA REKA” RIVER SEDIMENTS WITH HEAVY METALS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, S. Mulaj, N. Peci, S. Avdullahi, X. Raci)

To many countries heavy metal pollution is a problem related with areas of intensive mining activities and industry. Extensive exploitation of metallic minerals in the territory of Kosovo from antiquity until now days effected on environmental and river flows plane pollution. During September/November 2006 in Kizhnica/Artana was done stream sediment sampling (304 samples) main attention on precious metals (Au, Ag) and base metals (Zn, Pb, Cu). The stream sediment survey area is situated ESE of Prishtina with an ex...

SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION OF LIGNITE IN BARDH MIRASH MINES IN KOSOVO

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, H. Hajra, N. Peci, S. Mulaj)

Kosovo is rich in coal resources / reserves. There are about 14 billion tones coal resources in Kosova. The coal in Kosova is used mainly in power (electricity) generation and less amount for heating. Kosovo coal is lignite type. Exploitation of coal is being donning in two open pits Bardh and Mirash. There is also a project for building of the new power plant (capacity 2000 MW). For this, supply of coal should be made by the new mine - Sibovci. The underground mining was abandoned in 1922. Now it is the surface m...

STATISTICAL ANALYSIS OF STREAM SEDIMENT SAMPLING IN VOLCANIC COMPLEX MITROVICE – SAMADREXHE FOR SELECTED ELEMENTS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, N. Peci, S. Mulaj, S. Avdullahi, B. Baruti)

Kosovo has a varied geology that ranges in age from the Neo-Proterozoic to the Holocene. The geology is characterized by substantial structural features on a regional scale, including, normal faulting and thrusting. The area belongs to the External Vadar Zone (EVZ). The Volcanic complex Mitrovic\"e – Samadrexh\"e is dominated by Jurassic and Neogene volcanic rocks from several eruption centres, interlayered by metamorphic and sedimentary units. The survey area was determined in the adjacent area of the known Pb ...
