THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR EMS IMPLEMENTATION IN ROMANIAN ORGANIZATIONS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, Nuţă, Florian Marcel, Cuza”, Alina Prahoveanu “Alexandru Ioan)

Companies decide to implement an EMS for a variety of reasons, and choose the type of EMS that corresponds to their needs, aspirations, and capacities. In doing so, they need to think about the ways in which they wish to imbed their EMS within overall corporate strategies and how to link it with other management support tools that they have in place. If an EMS is not supported by appropriate corporate governance is unlikely to have an efficient impact. For example, the responsibility for corporate environmental po...

APPLICATION MSWR REGRESSION IN DETERMINING Pb AND Zn ANOMALIES IN MOGHANJEGH, NW IRAN AND COMPARE ITS RESULTS ITH CLASSIC REGRESSION TECHNIQUES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, Habibnia, Amir, Hezarkhani, Ardeshir)

Regression analysis is a well-established method to correct for grain size differences in suites of sediments. However, distortion caused by the presence of outliers and imprecision in both variables can hinder many common regression models from performing adequately. Median sum of weighted residuals (MSWR) regression is strongly outlier-resistant and accounts for imprecision in both variables for each member of a dataset. In a case study of Ni and Pb normalization for a suite of stream sediments in NW Iran, the a...

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, E. Doukakis)

Coastal zones are exposed to many dynamic processes that usually cause changes on long and short time spans. Erosion, sediment transport, environmental pollution and coastal development are among the most severe processes impacting the coastal zones. Monitoring of shoreline change needs a long-term commitment and objective decisions on shoreline change are usually made based on shoreline and erosion monitoring data that are usually acquired cumulatively over a long period of time. Show more

One of main concern of policy makers is pollution and hence the improvement of the environmental quality. The implementation of environment policies aims at improving life and product quality in order to replace those obtained by high polluting processes by less polluting ones. Countries having more strict environmental regulations are likely to suffer from a significant increase of their production costs. As a consequence these countries become less competitive on the international market and may lose their marke...

INVESTIGATION OF MICROBIAL POLLUTION OF SOME VEGETABLE SAMPLES COLLECTED FROM KONYA CITY MARKETS IN TURKEY

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, H.N. Ucan, K. Gur, S. Dursun)

Metropolitan city of Konya has the important agricultural activity. For this reason, it has been named “food store of Anatolia” as far as agricultural production is concerned. Many towns around Konya have to draw waters, for irrigation, from lower quality sources including municipal wastewaters. With the application to land of large volumes of minimally pretreated wastewater, it is evident that considerable potential for adverse health effects exists. Microbiological pollution could occur from food crop contaminat...

THE OUTLIER SAMPLE EFFECTS ON MULTIVARIATE STATISTICAL DATA PROCESSING IN GEOCHEMICAL STREAM SEDIMENT SURVEY (MOGHANGEGH REGION, NW OF IRAN)

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, Habibnia, Amir, Hezarkhani, Ardeshir, Ahadi, Mahdi)

In geochemical stream sediment surveys in Moghangegh Region in NW of Iran, sheet 1:50,000, 152 samples were collected and after analyze and processing of data, it is revealed that Yb, Sc, Ni, Li, Eu, Cd, Co, As contents in one sample is far higher than other samples. After detecting this sample as the outlier sample, affect of this sample was investigated in multivariate statistical data processing to investigate destructive effects of outlier sample existence in geochemical exploration. Pearson and spearman corre...

CHARACTERIZATION OF ALKALINE BASALTIC TUFFS AND THEIR APPLICATION IN THE SYNTHESIS OF CERAMIC AND GLASS CERAMIC MATERIALS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, Ergul, Sibel, Magaldi, Donatello, Taglieri, Guliana, Pelino, Mario, Karamanov, Alexander)

Alkaline basaltic tuffs, BT, from southern Turkey were characterized and used to obtain cheap sintered glass-ceramic and ceramic materials. The chemical and mineralogical compositions were analyzed by fluourescene spectrometry and X-ray diffraction analyses, respectively. The phase formations were studied by DTA, while the sintering behavior – by differentional dilatometer. The structure of the sintered samples was evaluated by pycnometric techniques and observed by SEM. Due to its high porosity and low crystallin...

ENGINEERING CALCULATIONS SPECIFICATIONS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, Mazhdrakov, Sc Metodi)

In the course of years in the engineering practice are formed mathematical procedures which are marked as “engineering calculations”. We will characterize the engineering calculations with the following specific features: • the engineering calculations are pointedly pragmatic; • the engineering calculations are based on working formulas; • the results are approximate; • the engineering calculations are developed by experts and should be applied by experts.

THE EFFECT OF DRAINAGE ON STRENGTH DEVELOPMENT OF CEMENTED PASTE BACKFILL

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2007, Ercikdi, Bayram, Cihangir, Ferdi, KESIMAL, Ayhan, DEVECI, Hacı, Alp, Ibrahim)

The increasing use of paste backfill in underground mining makes it necessary to quantify the effect of tailings properties, such as physical and chemical properties, on the performance properties of cemented paste backfill (CPB). The mechanical performance of CPB placed in underground openings (i.e. mine stopes) is often different from the one predicted in laboratory studies even under similar curing conditions of temperature and humidity. This observation is presumably due to the specific consolidation and drain...
