SPECIAL FEATURES OF TIDES IN PRECISE MEASUREMENTS OF GROUNDWATER LEVEL

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, G. Kocharyan, E. A. Vinogradov, E. Gorbunova, N. Kabychenko, D. Pavlov, I. Svintsov)

The paper presents the results of precise monitoring of the regime of groundwater at the territory of the Geophysical Observatory of IDG RAS "Mikhnevo". Variations of water level in the isolated aquifer depend on regime controlling factors that have episodic and stationary effects on the aquifer. Detecting and studying the reaction of groundwater to stationary lunisolar tides are of special interest. The tidal effect in variations of groundwater level can be considered as a probing signal for diagnostics of stress...

The article deals primarily with issue of old environmental burdens from mining activity, which is marked by higher level ...

THE VOCATIONAL EDUCATION TRAINING IN ALBANIA. LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, F. Cucllari, M. Cini, E. Dhimitri)

Human capital development is one of the major challenges in the overall process socioeconomic development of the Albania. Although the Albania has managed to decrease the percentage of people who have low levels of education, this remains disproportionately high when compared to the corresponding percentage in the EU States. This paper gives an analysis and an assessment of the main reforms that are taking place in education and training, in Albania. In particular, it focuses on vocational education training (VET)...

THE ZINC BORATE PRODUCTION BY USING ULEXITE MINERAL

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, N. Acarah, S. Piskin)

The purpose of this study is to synthesize zinc borate by using ulexite and to increase efficiency with producing boric acid. In this study, zinc borate production was carried out with two stages. In first stage, boric acid was synthesized from ulexite, in second stage, zinc borate was synthesized from boric acid which was obtained in first stage. When boric acid is synthesized in first stage to produce zinc borate, sodium sulphate and calcium sulphate are separated and they may be evaluated for different applicat...

THENARDITE MINERALIZATIONS OF CAYIRHAN SULFATE OCCURRENCES IN ANKARA, TURKEY: INVESTIGATION OF PARAGENESIS AND FORMATION MECHANISMS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, T. A. Kepekli, M. Maral, D. Maral, A. Karalar, L. S. Gunacgun, F. Suner)

Preliminary investigation of mineralizations of Thenardite associated with sulfate occurrences in \cCayırhan – Beypazarı, Ankara is presented. Local geology consists of Paleozoic metamorphite schists, Permo-triassic granitic rocks, Middle Jurassic – Upper Cretaceous limestones and marls in flysch facies, Paleocene aged land sedimentaries and marine Eocene units, Miocene to Pliocene aged lacustrine units, which sodium sulfates are associated to. Thenardite, Glauberite and Mirabilite minerals have been detecte...

THERMAL PROPERTIES OF THE URALS SERPENTINOUS DUNITES (OLIVINE ROCK) AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, A. Lipaev, S. Lipaev, L. Alekseeva)

The authors were the first to carry out the investigation of thermal properties of serpentinous dunites (olivine rock) at Mount Soloviev, Nizhny Tagil duniteclinopyroxenite massif. The collection studied includes 12 dunite samples varying in the degree of serpentinization in the range of values from near 0 to practically 100\%. The samples of serpentinous dunites from the Urals were investigated for thermoconductivity and thermal diffusivity by the apparatus applying the method of periodic heating in the system of...

THERMOPHYSICAL RESEARCH IN PETROPHYSICS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, AL. Lipaev)

Petrophysics (physics of rocks) is a branch of Natural Science which studies physical properties and behavior of rocks, their change regularity and mechanism, and properties interrelationship. Determination of thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity and heat capacity is one of the most significant problems in petrophysics. It is necessary for solving a wide range of issues related to natural and artificial thermal fields in the Earth crust: predictions of abyssal temperatures, oil and gas exploration and prospec...

TRANSBOUNDARY POLLUTION – CASE OF NATURAL EASTERN BORDER OF ROMANIA - PRUT RIVER

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, C. E. Tureac, A. G. Turtureanu, C. Cretu, A. Grigore, G. Modiga, M. Trandafir)

This paper highlights the fact that environmental issues in the border regions are numerous. These problems in border regions are endemic to many countries. At global scale of the whole planet, the importance of transboundary pollution of the air, water, soil is far from negligible (according to reports submitted to the UN). Almost 50\% of our planet earth (excluding Antarctica) is located in international water collection tanks. In this area about 40\% of world’s population lives, stretching over more than 200 ...

TREATMENT OF THE MINE DRAINAGES TO USE FOR AGRICULTURAL, INDUSTRIAL AND DOMESTICS USAGES AS A STRATEGY TO COPE WATER CRISIS, CASE STUDY: IRANIAN MINES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, A. Aryafar, M. Massinaei)

As the water has a vital role in human life and economic development, its shortage can cause some economical, agricultural, industrial and environmental problems. These problems are more prominent in warm and dry regions. Therefore, in such areas the water resources management as well as the treatment and recycling of the mine drainage have the great importance. In the underground and open pit mines, we usually deal with the huge amounts of the contaminated water. In this research, by considering of the statistics...

TUNNEL DRIVAGE PERFORMANCE PREDICTION OF HYDRAULIC IMPACT HAMMERS USING ADAPTIVE NEURO-FUZZY INFERENCE SYSTEM (ANFIS)

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, M. Iphar)

Hydraulic impact hammers are one of the mechanical excavators that can be economically used in tunneling projects under favorable geologic conditions. However, there is relatively less published material in the literature directed to their performance prediction in terms of rock properties. In tunnel drivage projects, there is often the need for accurate means of performance prediction of related mechanical excavators. A poor prediction of machine performance can lead to very costly contractual claims. In this stu...
