Concentration of Na, K, Ca and Mg in selected vegetable cultures: spinach (Spinacia oleracea), lettuce (Lactuca sativa) and parsley (Pertoselinum crispum) were analyzed. Only edible parts of the above plants were used. Metal content was determined by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Three sour cherries cultivars, Marela, Oblacinska and Cigancica, collected from a south Serbia were evaluated and compered for their content of heavy metals. Inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) is widely recognized as a suitable technique for the determination of heavly metals. The content od Cd and Pb are in intervale 0.066-0.399 and 3.466-7.199 $\mu$g/100g fresh weight of sour cherry.

A kinetic method for the determination of 2,4-D is proposed. The method is based on the inhibiting effect of 2,4-D on the Mn(II) catalysis of the oxidation of malachite green with potassium periodate. The method was applied for the determination of 2,4-D in soil samples.
