NDVI-BASED SPATIOTEMPORAL ANALYSIS OF THE GREEN SPACE IN TBILISI, GEORGIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Mariam Tsitsagi, Zaza Gulashvili, Nino Kharebava)

Green space is an integral part of human life. Many aspects of the population's activity and well-being are associated with this process. Green space is equally important for both rural and urban settlements. Tbilisi, Georgia, is a city where the loss of green space has recently intensified due to excessive urban sprawl. However, this growth is not well planned in most cases. Accordingly, analysis of green space dynamics is crucial for strategic planning in Tbilisi. However, there is a lack of similar data for Tbi...

DROUGHT INDICES AND VIS-BASED CANOPY STATUS OF VINEYARDS

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-11-01, Mariam Tsitsagi, Ana Palavandishvili, Zaza Gulashvili)

The study aims to evaluate how droughts impact irrigated and non-irrigated vineyards by analysing the relationship between short-term drought and vegetation indices to identify areas irrigated from unofficial sources. The re-search area includes vineyards in Telavi municipality (eastern Georgia). RStudio was used to calculate SPI and SPEI (1- month and 3-month timescales) and EDI (daily) to measure the severity of the meteorological drought. The 27-year (1993-2020) data from a weather station in the study area inc...

RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN NORMALISED DIFFERENCE VEGETATION INDEX, PRECIPITATION AND DROUGHT INDICES (CASE OF KAKHETI, GEORGIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Mariam Tsitsagi, Zaza Gulashvili, Nana Bolashvili, Marika Tatishvili, Nikoloz Suknidze)

The link between precipitation, drought indices, and NDVI is discussed in this paper. The data were processed on the example of the extreme eastern region of GeorgiaKakheti for the period 2016-2020. The study area has landscapes of natural (mixed and deciduous forests) and agriculture (vineyards, orchards, cereals, and vegetables). The NDVI was generated using Sentinel 2 images with a 10 m pixel resolution, and the average monthly NDVI was derived using Arc map 10.8. Drought indices (SPI and SPEI) were calculated ...

COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT DEM DERIVED LANDFORM ANALYSIS (CASE OF KAKHETI, GEORGIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Mariam Tsitsagi, D. Svanadze, Giorgi Lominadze, Merab Gongadze, Levan Koroglishvili)

Topography plays an unraveled role in many biophysical processes and phenomena. The main problem, however, is that measurement, representation, and characterization of such a vast and continuous feature are very challenging. The accuracy of Digital Elevation Models (DEMs) has a direct influence on the results of the further landform analysis. In this paper, we use existing approaches of landform analysis with the use of global DEMs in the large-scale regional study. A detailed comparison was made between landforms...

MULTI-TEMPORAL IMAGE ANALYSIS FOR ALAZANI RIVER (GEORGIA) MEANDERING CHANGE DETECTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Mariam Tsitsagi, Lia Matchavariani, Georgi Ghambashidze, Dali Nikolaishvili, Elene Nikolaishvili)

Human impact along with other elements of the environment has a great impact on the processes in the river basins. River meander dynamics and mobility are important indicators of environmental change related to climate changes and anthropogenic activities at local and river basin scales. This paper presents a study of spatial and temporal changes meandering Alazani (Georgia) in its middle stream and downstream. Alazani is the border of the country and the bank erosion here has the environmental and political impor...
