CATALYSTS BASED ON MESOPOROUS SOLIDS FOR CASCADE REACTIONS IN BIOMASS PROCESSING

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Valentina G. Matveeva, Linda Zh. Nikoshvili, Александрина Михайловна Сульман, Oleg V. Manaenkov, А. И. Сидоров, Alexander Sidorov)

Mesoporous solids include metal oxides, silica, phosphates and other materials. They may contain various acidic and basic sites which are, in combination with metal nanoparticles, metal atoms, functional groups, etc., could be efficient multifunctional catalysts for cascade reactions. In this shot review, the most important aspects of such catalysts that furnish their catalytic activity and selectivity for cascade reactions in biomass processing discussed. A combination of one metal with another or with metal oxid...

SYNTHESIS OF MANNITOL FROM INULIN USING A MAGNETIC CATALYST

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Oleg V. Manaenkov, Olga Kislitsa, Аntonina А. Stepacheva, Valentina G. Matveeva, Mikhail G. Sulman, Mikhail Sulman)

Mannitol is an important raw material in the production of resins, lubricants, coatings, surfactants, explosives, cosmetics and drugs. One of the promising ways to obtain it is the catalytic conversion of inulin, a natural polyfructosan found in large quantities in some agricultural crops. In this study a Ru-containing magnetic catalyst was proposed for the process of hydrolytic hydrogenation of inulin to mannitol. Under optimal reaction conditions a high mannitol selectivity of 44.3 % was obtained 100 % conversio...

OPTIMIZATION OF PROCESS CONDITIONS FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERSION OF MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE INTO SUGAR ALCOHOLS

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-11-01, Oleg V. Manaenkov, Olga Kislitsa, Аntonina А. Stepacheva, Linda Zh. Nikoshvili, Valentina G. Matveeva)

The scale of annual reproduction of cellulose-containing biomass in nature allows us to draw an unambiguous conclusion that cellulose is the only source of raw materials for the chemical and fuel industries, representing a real alternative to fossil resources and, first of all, oil. Cellulose is the main component of plant biomass. According to some estimates, almost half of the organic carbon in the biosphere is contained in cellulose. Hydrolytic hydrogenation is a special case of carbohydrate hydrogenation. With...

SAWDUST LIQUIEFACTION OVER SCHUNGITE-BASED CATALYST

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-11-01, Аntonina А. Stepacheva, Mariia E. Markova, Oleg V. Manaenkov, E. I. Shimanskaya, Валентина Геннадьевна Матвеева)

The deep processing of lignocellulose feedstock (including waste from the woodworking industry, agriculture, and agro-industry) allowing the high-added value products to be obtained is one of the key scientific problems. Lignocellulose biomass is a potential feedstock for the production of heat, electricity, fuel, chemicals, and other bioderived products. The liquefaction is considered to be one of the most promising ways to convert lignocellulose biomass into liquid fuels. During the liquefaction, lignocellulose ...

RESEARCH OF THE PROCESS OF CONVERSION OF MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE IN SUBCRITICAL WATER

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Esther Sulman, Валентина Геннадьевна Матвеева, Oleg V. Manaenkov, Olga Kislitsa, Linda Zh. Nikoshvili)

This paper presents the results of a study of the hydrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose in a subcritical water medium. The influence of temperature, time, cellulose/water ratio, cellulose particle size, and other parameters on the hydrolysis process was studied. The influence on the process of pretreatment of aqueous dispersions of cellulose with ultrasound was studied. It was shown that the optimal processing time is 30 min (~ 150 kJ). Over a given period of time, destruction and partial hydrolysis of the amor...

WO3/ZSM-5 CATALYSTS FOR THE CONVERSION OF MONOSACCHARIDES TO 5-HYDROXYMETHYL FURFURAL AND LEVULINIC ACID

(STEF92 Technology, 2020-09-20, Olga Kislitsa, Oleg V. Manaenkov, Maxim Grigoriev, Esther Sulman, Mikhail G. Sulman)

In this study, a procedure was developed for the synthesis of WO3-containing catalysts based on zeolites of the ZSM-5 type. Zeolites with different Si/Al ratios and different numbers of acid sites were used: ZSM-5-CVM, ZSM-5-CVN and ZSM-5-Acros. The synthesized catalysts were characterized and tested in the reaction of the conversion of fructose and glucose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural and levulinic acid. It was shown that the introduction of tungsten (VI) oxide into the composition of ZSM-5 leads to a noticeable in...

MAGNETICALLY RECOVERABLE POLYMERIC CATALYST FOR CELLULOSE HYDROGENOLYSIS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Oleg V. Manaenkov)

In this work, the synthesis method of magnetically recoverable catalyst (3 % Ru-Fe3O4/HPS MN270) was developed. Synthesized magnetically recoverable supports and catalysts were characterized by different physical-chemical methods. The magnetic properties of the catalyst samples were studied. The experimental samples were shown to have a high saturation magnetization (4.0 ± 0.5 emu/g). The magnetization curves no remanence or coercivity is observed, demonstrating superparamagnetic behavior which is characterized fo...
