SUSTAINABILITY AND SAFETY IN RURAL AREAS: AN ANALYSIS OF CRIME DYNAMICS AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2026, Igor Scutaru, Maria Magdalena Turek Rahoveanu)

We are currently witnessing a period in which the issues of crime and safety in rural areas are gaining increasing relevance in the context of socio-economic transformations and pressures on agricultural systems and rural communities. Accordingly, the dynamics of this phenomenon are closely linked to factors such as the structure of the labour market, social capital, public policies, the level of economic development, and access to resources and infrastructure. At the same time, the interaction between agriculture...

FROM CIRCULAR TO REGENERATIVE: SHAPING ECONOMIES THAT REDUCE CO2 AND CREATE VALUE

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-12-27, Ziga Turk)

Environmental discourse has moved from -green- to -sustainable- to -circular.- The emerging paradigm is the regenerative economy, which goes beyond minimizing damage to actively improving ecosystems and communities. This perspective draws on long-standing work in ecological economics, systems ecology, and innovation theory without relying on specific frameworks in this abstract. It stresses that natural resources may be finite, yet the possibilities created by knowledge, technology, and institutional evolution are...

EXPERIMENTAL MODEL OF SARS COV-2 IN YOUNG SYRIAN HAMSTERS FOR PRECLINICAL STUDIES

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-11-15, Gleb Fomin, Kairat Tabynov, Nurkeldy Turebekov, Dinara Turegeldiyeva, Rinat Islamov)

SARS-CoV-2 researchers faced the problem of specificity for ACE-2 receptors. In mice and rats, ACE-2 has a low affinity for this virus. In contrast, the Syrian hamster (Mesocricetus auratus) when infected with SARS-CoV-2 show clinical signs of infection with this virus. Therefore, it is necessary to assess the severity of pathological lesions and immune response for relevance to preclinical new drugs against SARS-CoV-2. In this study, we studied blood counts, serum levels of Il-6, TNF-?, IFN-? and IFN-? and the hi...

The article provides data on the use of medicinal plants in landscaping of the Steppe zone of Ukraine, special attention is paid to the creation of a rock garden. Medicinal plants have been widely used by man throughout his entire existence. Today, scientists are very interested in this group of plants due to the emergence of a pandemic caused by the deadly COVID-19 virus. It has been established that the phytochemicals of these plants are potential drugs against this virus. When creating a rock garden from herbac...

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Agnieszka Turek)

The issue of spatial development of post-industrial facilities and areas is currently one of the most important challenges of planning urban development. The renewal and revitalisation of such areas is part of contemporary trends involving optimal and sustainable development of urbanised areas in order to create a compact city, i.e. one efficiently using its spatial resources. The implementation of revitalisation projects is a complex and expensive process which often requires remediation or reclamation, and consi...

IMPACT OF CLIMATE CHANGE ON AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT - CHALLENGES TO BULGARIAN FARMERS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-12-05, Teodorina Turlakova)

The agriculture is a sector where the impact of climate change leads to high risk and vulnerability in farmers' activities. The negative consequences are reflected in the direction of changes in agricultural land, decrease in productivity, soil erosion, salinization, deterioration of the conditions for raising animals and others. Tackling such problems is a challenge for farmers trying to balance the need to produce enough food for the population and, on the other, to mitigate the negative effects of climate chang...

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Andra Luciana Turcanu Marcu)

Nowadays a major issue in managing the industrialized/logistic zones is represented by the environment protection. Circular economy or industrial ecology can be a sustainable model. The challenge for the economic actors of the Danube is the promotion of an Eco-friendly mode of transportation. The port administration and port operators should find solutions to implement an industrial ecology regime. Adapting an Eco-innovative solution should contribute on the number of the additional partners and clients. This cont...

RECLAMATION OF DEGRADED AREAS AS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE IN THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF CITIES

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Agnieszka Turek)

The negative phenomenon of suburbanisation has been observed around the globe for many years. One of the methods of counteracting the process is directing the city?s development inward, improving the urban planning parameters, and using areas potentially attractive in terms of location but in need of new management. They are among others post-industrial areas, frequently characterised by a considerable degree of degradation (brownfields). The objective of the article is the determination of the potential of degrad...

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Teodorina Turlakov)

The agri-environmental policy of the CAP is not new to the EU. It has been developing for over twenty-five years, as agriculture is the sector directly dependent on abiotic and biotic environmental factors. On the eve of the new programming period (2021-2027), challenges in relation to the environment, climate and sustainable agriculture are increasing. In the context of deepening environmental changes, the risks to agriculture are limited to: changes in agricultural land; reduction of agricultural productivity; r...
