INCREASE OF IRON CONTENT IN CURRENT SINTER

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, R. Findorak, M. Frohlichova, J. Legemza, F. Bakaj)

In connection with high basicity requirements for current agglomerates it is necessary to keep their iron content. This requirement can be met by increasing the content of concentrates in sinter mixtures. It is important to clarify the limit of the concentrate addition or volume in current sinter charges. For this purpose in view laboratory sintering tests were performed to investigate the effect of sintering ores and concentrates on the agglomeration process and its products. The main charge components were mixed...

INVESTIGATING THE BALANCE BETWEEN THE HUMAN INTERVENTION AND THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT IN THE REALIZATION OF INFRASTRUCTURAL PROJECTS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, N. Zhechev)

When infrastructural routes pass through sites with a long-term natural balance, landslide processes may be instigated. The reason is the human intervention. The scale of this intervention is usually sufficient to break the balance border between the admissible human intervention and nature. Crossing this frontier is followed by increased expenditures and termination of construction activities. The subject of this paper covers not only the measures for the ecological balance to be efficiently restored. Attention i...

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, L.P. Andel, PETRZILKA, I. Gorcicova, H. Belkova)

Landscape fragmentation, a process where biotopes are separated into different parts by a creation of a barrier, is a key issue of landscape ecology nowadays. Separated landscape patches gradually lose their potential to fulfil their original function. There is general effort to develop universal model or set of indicators for fragmentation measurement. In the CR we carried out research project “Integration of landscape fragmentation issue into the decision-making processes” leading by the Ministry of by the M...

Phosphorus (P) waste output, notably in the dissolved form (DWP), is a major concern for many fish culture operations. Fish are believed to excrete DWP via the urine but this aspect has never been examined in detail. A better understanding of P utilization and renal P handling of fish could aid development of nutritional strategies for the management and reduction P waste. Rainbow trout were fed high corn gluten meal diets, supplemented with dibasic calcium phosphate, containing increasing P levels (0, 75; 1, 15; ...

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, P. Sasek, P. Schmidt, J. Mann)

Combustion product production increases with growing demand for energy produced by fossil fuel combustion. Their amount is higher in every year and new way of their use must be looked for. The combustion products can be largely used in a building industry where light ashes are applicable admixture for a concrete production or as a partial substitution of cement. Other way of use is at reclamation and improvement where the combustion products can be applied for back filling or rampart creation. The objective of the...

OBSERVATION OF PHYSICAL MECHANICAL AND CHEMICAL PARAMETER CHANGES OF BUILDING MIXTURES ON A BASE OF PILOT PLANT COMBUSTION PRODUCTS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, P. Sasek, P. Schmidt, J. Mann)

A combustion product production has increased in Czechia in recent years. The ways must be looked for how to use the combustion products effectively. One of the ways is to use them as building mixtures suitable for building purposes and for reclamation redevelopment works. Types of building mixtures based on combustion products were designed and their qualitative parameters were long term observed in the frame of the solution of a research proposal under the title “Research of physical and chemical properties of...

STREAM SEDIMENT CONTAMINATION FROM AREAS AFECTED BY SB MINING IN SLOVAKIA

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, P. Sottnik, M. Petrak, V. Cavajda, J. Cizniar)

Sb-mineralization had been exploited in many localities in Slovakia. Contamination of environment by Sb, As and other heavy metals is specific problem of Slovak mining regions. Three localities Poproc (in eastern part of Slovakia), Medzibrod and Dubrava (in The Low Tatras) are abandoned mining areas where the stibnite ores had been exploited for many years. These areas represent high potential environmental risk because of transport and accumulation of contamination in different parts of environment (waters, strea...

STRUCTURAL APPROACH FOR GETTING UNDER CONTROL OF LANDSLIDE PROCESSES IN THE RAILWAY INFRASTRUCTURE

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, N. Zhechev)

The subject of the paper is a landslide process near Sofia, which endangers the international railway traffic to Greece. Sliding arises out of a lack of measures for drainage. The intensive landslide process should be overcome in three stages: 1/ prompt measures for the active slide prevention combined with earthfill abutment with a retaining wall; 2/ building of drainage structures, and 3/ reinforcement of the earth bed under the railroad. The approach for getting the landslide processes under control is demonstr...

In the current global crisis conditions any opportunity of extending the tourism market, attracting a new segment of tourists is welcome. The lake’s water stands as a crucial link that conditions a leads through its physicalchemical composition the lake’s biological life, the flora and fauna casting, their discomposure and transformation into mud quality important organic mater. The water’s level growth involves deep qualitative alterations, concerning the peloidogenesis phenomenon related species, and the w...

THE IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION OF PLANTS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, E. Tulukcu, R. Kocak)

There are many varieties of plant in the world. Plants are essential to the balance of nature and people’s lives. As a critical part of the ecosystem, plants provide oxygen for organisms to survive. They are able to reduce the problem of pollution, by using carbon-dioxide. Plants are also the basis of most food webs as producers of food for herbivores and ultimately carnivores. Plants also provide shelter for animals, clean and filter water and help prevent soil erosion. Historically, plants have provided a sour...

THE RESHAPING OF THE ENVIRONMENT UNDER THE SIGN OF THE ECOLOGIC POLICIES

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, M. Mazilu, S. Mitroi, V. Micsoniu)

The relation man – environment has reached a point when it will bear major changes, which will reshape the entire structure of the man-made edifice. In fact, the changes will affect the society and the rules which it has created in all the aspects, starting from the definition of morality and reaching the behaviour of each individual, inhabitant of the planet. In this context, the ecologic policies do not situate themselves on auxiliary positions, “curative”, but they are meant to set up objectives on econom...

THE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PROMOTED BY SMES –BASIS OF THE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2009, C. E. Tureac, A. G. Turtureanu, I. Bordean, A. Grigore, G. Modiga)

The sustainable tourism implies the development of all the forms of tourism, the touristic management and marketing that should respect the natural, social and economic integrity of the environment by ensuring the exploitation of the natural and cultural resources for the future generations as well. The competitive development of the touristic products lead to the creation of new jobs, in a direct manner – in the area of the production and distribution of touristic services – as well as in an indirect manner, ...
