(STEF92 Technology, 2026, Jan Mezey, Adrian Selnekovic, Dusan Igaz, Viliam Barek, Tomas Holota)

Arbuscular mycorrhiza, a widespread mutualistic association between fungi of the phylum Glomeromycota and plant roots, plays an important role in improving plant nutrition and tolerance to environmental stress. THE EFFECT OF SO3 ADDITION ON THE EARLY STRENGTH OF BELITE CEMENTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2025-08-15, Jiří Grošek, Tomas Zavrel, Eva Koci, Theodor Staněk, Michaela Krejčí Kotlánová)

The development of cements that produce less CO2 is important for the preservation of our environment. One way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is to produce belite cements that contain a higher proportion of belite than alite. Although the long-term strengths of this type of cement are comparable or even higher than those of ordinary Portland cement, their disadvantage is insufficient initial strengths) due to the slow hydration of belite. In this work, the effect of adding SO3 to the raw meal on the initial st...

Recently, there have been cases of lower durability related to concrete pavements in the transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic. One of the main causes seems to be the increased amount of alkalis in the concrete, which may not have come only from individual components or through winter maintenance. This paper describes a research activity which deals with possibilities of alkali attack from the surrounding environment. The pilot testing provides valuable information on alkalis concentrations in real condit...

Among its activities, the construction industry has a significant impact on the environment. In recent years, therefore, emphasis has been placed on the sustainability of building structures and materials, and ways and means are being sought to achieve this. Specifically, it is about reducing emissions and using the waste produced by recycling materials, e.g. aggregate. The motivation for using recycled aggregates is also to reduce dependence on natural resources, which are declining. The article deals with the as...

THE ISSUE OF THE IMPACT SPOTS ON BELT CONVEYORS

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Tomáš Hapla, Pavel Novák, Ladislav Kovář)

Belt conveyors constitute an important part of the machinery for the underground and surface mining of materials. In the course of time, conveyor belts proved to be the most efficient way of transporting material, which is still valid not only in the mining industry. For the transport of rocks to a mine disposal site, a combination of multiple belt conveyors is necessary. Places of transfer belong to the most stressed parts and there are frequent breakdowns. They operate in difficult conditions and are subject to ...

Many countries face the growing issue of an ageing population, which can be characterized as one of the most important phenomena of this century. One of the key factors in the elderly’s lives is spatial mobility, which is linked to their quality of life and well-being, including their independence and self-reliance. Walking is understood as an essential activity in this frame. The progressive erosion of physical and mental capabilities in elderly persons is causing growing issues for walking and close-neighbour mo...

USING IMAGE PROCESSING SOFTWARE DEVELOPED FOR B-IMAGING ON MR IMAGES BASED ON THRESHOLDING ALGORITHM IN A SELECTABLE REGION OF INTEREST

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Jiří Blahuta, Tomáš Soukup, Jan Lavrinčík, Lukáš Pavlík)

In 2011, we developed our application for B-imaging based on binary thresholding algorithm in a selectable Region of Interest. This application has been used in many studies focused on ultrasound B-imaging in neurology; primarily for substantia nigra echogenicity examination and also for some different brain structures, e.g. mediotemporal lobe atrophy investigation. One of principal output value is an echogenicity index which is used as a marker of the echogenicity grade. Many published studies showed that is well...

The fixture of optical elements in optomechanical assemblies is a field that develops depending on ever-increasing demands on optical systems, namely on their performance, the accuracy of the fit for the lenses, on the installation space, the resistance of the assemblies, etc. Equally important is the view in terms of the production demand for such a system, which is also growing. The article presented here deals with a theoretical understanding of the issues concerning the free bonding of lenses, i.e. fitting the...
