COLLECTION RATE CONSTANT MODELING IN A FULL- SCALE FLOTATION COLUMN

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, M. Massinaei, R. Doostmohammadi, A. Aryafara)

In the present study collection rate constant (kc) was modeled as a function of the most significant operating variables which affect gas dispersion in a flotation column (i.e. superficial gas velocity, slurry density (solids\%) and frother dosage/type) using artificial neural network (ANN) and statistical techniques. Experiments were performed in an industrial flotation column (4 m in diameter and 12 m in height) in rougher circuit of a copper concentrator. RTD studies using a radioactive tracer have already conf...

ON EFFICIENT SOLUTION IN MODELING SO2 DISPERSION FROM COMBUSTION FLUE GAS

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, D.-C. Toncu, V. Stanciu)

Major environmental problem worldwide, air pollution gains our particular attention, especially in the case of industrial emission. Among such concerns, SO2 generated by combustion flue gas requires profound analysis, mostly because it is known to cause acid rains. In time, many mathematical models gave both quantification and prediction of pollution level. This work aims to compare several SO2 dispersion equations (i.e. Sutton equation, Bosanquet-Pearson equation and diffusion equation, derived from the plume dis...

The Republic of Croatia, as any other country in the world that has been faced with the war consequences is burdened with one of the most difficult consequences – mine contamination. Therefore the most sophisticated Mine Information System (MIS) has been established in the Croatian Mine Action Centre (CROMAC). Mine Information System of the Croatian Mine Action Centre applied in the system of anti-mine activity in the Republic of Croatia. Geodetic measurements of searched and demined areas is one of the actions th...

RECYCLING OF FLY ASH IN CEMENT MANUFACTURING

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, Paceagiu, Jenica)

This paper presents the results obtained by utilization of pulverized coal fly ash both as raw mix component for Portland cement clinker and as admixture to cement type CEM II/B-V, too. The fly ash was analyzed from point of view of chemical, mineralogical and of radioactivity content. Two samples of raw mixes were prepared, one with raw materials as a reference sample consisting from limestone, clay, sand and pyrite cinder, and another with 10.14\% fly ash instead of clay. Raw mixes were ground at a fineness expr...

ADSORPTION OF TRIHALOMETHANES ON ACTIVATED LIGNITE

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, Aydin, Mehmet Emin, Tongur, Süheyla)

All materials which are rich in carbon content could be used after activation or adsorption. These materials include coal, lignite, wood, Boone, coconut shells, nut shells, rice husks, and various fruits seeds. Activated carbons obtained from these materials are usually hard and dense. Therefore they could be used in water treatment for long time without deterioration. Activated carbons used in controlling environmental pollution should have high surface area and porosity. Activated carbon is obtained by the proce...

PSEUDOLITES APPLICATIONS IN POSITIONING AND NAVIGATION

(SGEM Scientific GeoConference, 2010, G. Novakovic, A. Dapo, D. Kodzic)

Global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) introduced revolutionary changes in the positioning and navigation, but it is well known that the precision, reliability, availability and integrity of the results obtained by this technology, largely depend on the number and geometric distribution of the satellites being tracked. This is especially problem in areas with limited sky visibility, such as urban canyons, dam monitoring in valleys, deep open-pit mines, larges construction sites. Furthermore, indoors or undergr...

Association Quercetum trojanae dukagjini in Kosovo as relict and refugial phytocoenosis is preserved only in some specific localities: near Pashtrik, Koritnik, Oshlak and some individuals in complex of Carralevas Mountains near Theranda. The altitude of these grounds is from 300 to 900 m (1000 m). Geological composition is made of limestone rocks. The pedological cover is red earth (terra rosa). The phytocenosis is under the Mediterranean climate, which comes through the valley of the Drini i Bardh\"e River. Phyto...
